These steps are outlined in this document. If you are comfortable with doing so, you are welcome
to do these steps in any order. If you are not, please follow the steps outlined in this document.
Currently, you have a Network cable that currently runs from your router, into your phone. An
additional network cable runs from your phone into your computer.
These instructions focus on the ports located on the back of the phone.

To set up your new phone:

Attach the kick-stand to the phone.
1. Lay your phone face-down, with the top of the phone pointing away from you.
2. Take your kick-stand and attach it to the back of the phone just above the ports, with the
CISCO logo facing the top of the phone. These are marked A in the diagram.

Handset and Headset

1. Take the handset cord and plug it in to the
back of the handset.
2. Plug the other end of the handset cord into
the back of the phone.
a. Use the port labeled C in your diagram.
This is on the right hand side, and is the
one closest to the bottom of the
phone.
3. Plug your headset into the back of the phone,
directly above the handset. This is labeled B
in your diagram.

Connecting the Network

1.

Take your Network cable that is plugged into

your router. If you do not have a router, take
the cable that provides you with your internet
connection.

2. Plug the Network cable into the first Ethernet

port from the left. It is labeled D in your
diagram.

The phone must be connected directly to the internet.

3. Take the other Network cable.
4. Plug one end into the phone, in the middle Ethernet port, labeled E in your diagram.
5. Plug the other end into the Ethernet port in your thin-client or computer.

Power:
Your previous phones did not require a
power-cable, as it received power from
the Ethernet cable. The new phones
require a separate power source. To
connect power to your phone:
1.

Plug the power cord into the

power brick.

2. Plug the power cord into the

wall-jack.
3. The power cord plugs into the
phone on the left-side. This is a
round port and is labeled F on
your diagram.

Like any electronic device, the phone will take a moment to boot up. The computer will not have
connectivity during the boot up stage. Once the phone has completed the boot up process, it will
display your phone number and the current date and time. This will include your extension for
logging into required applications.

Your computer is now connected to the internet.
