Examples of Eco-Inclusive Enterprises

Waste Management
TM

The recycling of plastic to make EcoPost

posts result in twenty-five metric tons of plastic waste
being permanently withdrawn from the environment every month.
2010 SEED Winner EcoPost, a partnership of international and national NGOs, uses plastic waste to
make aesthetic, durable and environmentally-friendly fencing posts. Nairobi, the city where EcoPost is
based, generates over 2,400 tons of waste every day, 20% of which is plastic. Moreover, the city does
not have an organised waste management system, leading waste to be dumped on streets and open
fields. By collecting and recycling plastic waste, EcoPost reduces this amount of plastic litter. Also, by
providing an alternative fencing material to traditional wood, EcoPost contributes towards conserving
forests. Read more about EcoPost on the SEED Website via http://adelph.it/qjvoJ.
