1. OBJECTIVE
Air blowing is one of procedure used to clean inside of fuel pipe or tank of
loose dirt, welding bead deposits, pipe slag and other foreign material ensure fuel which through
the pipe or tank not contaminated with other foreign material.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Ensure to have approved Permit To Work for blowing activity. Use the safety wears such; goggles,
safety shoes, safety helmet, gloves and ear plug during the blowing work.
Barricade blowing area and put Sign or Warning Board that informed blowing work is ongoing in this
area.

ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIONS

Collect the waste from inside the pipe such debris, etc. and transfer it to the waste disposal
place.

INSTRUCTIONS

Working method must follows blowing procedure which already approved by PTCL.
Ensure all the piping to be install follow the approved shop drawing.

INTRODUCTION

Air blow cleaning processes involve the discharge of a high pressure compressed air through the
piping systems or tank in a series of rapid bursts interrupted by recharge cycles. The issues to
consider include whether air compressors of suitable capacity are readily available at the site, if
storage in the form of a section of pipe, a new out of service boiler or some other suitably rated
storage vessel or volume is available, and the system (what segments) are being cleaned.

PROCEDURE

Inspection
The equipment is first visually inspected for:
- Faults, loose pipes, connections.
- Correct direction of te air flow through pipe.
Then the air bowing can be started.
Cleaning
- Discharge of a high pressure compressed air through the piping systems or tank in a series of
rapid bursts interrupted by recharge cycles.
- Repeat this and ensure until inside the pipe or tank is cleaned.
- Mount everything on the right place again.
