Requirement
The current version of the license server supports communication via:
static IP addresses or
host names
Remove old configuration file!
If there was a previous version of the license server installed,
please delete the file:
C:\ProgramData\Limit_lic_server\lic_server.cfg

Installing the Limit License Server
Version Limit_License_Server_2014R1.5.004 or higher
Download the installation file LIMIT-Server-Installation.zip from CAE ftp server
Unzip the file
Run Limit_License_server_2014R1.x.xxx.exe as administrator
Select or type in the installation path and click ok

Running server for the first time
Double click LimitServer.exe
in the installation directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\limit_license_server)
Choosing the IP address
If more than one network is available on the server, then the user must choose the
IP-address of the desired network
The server will store the first two entries of the netmask. In case of a network with dynamic
IP - addresses the server will find the right network after a restart.
i.e. 192.168.xxx.xxx

If there is no license file available, you will get an error message! Press OK-button!

Important features of the LIMIT license server
It must be installed and run with administrator privileges
If the server is stopped, LIMIT applications will stop and wait, until server is available
After a connection was interrupted (e.g. pulling the network cable plug) all checked out
licenses of the affected computer will be blocked for 30 minutes. In this case the user
can stop and restart the server and free all licenses. Then all running applications in the
network will checkout new licenses.
In case of interruption LIMIT-CAE might fail to reconnect automatically. In this case
the user must save the data base and restart the LIMIT-CAE.

In order to automatically launch the server after a reboot of the server, a

TASK has to be created. Please see the following slides for Windows7/8 or XP.
