1. Scope
This General Specification is applicable in conjunction with the GS EP PLR 100 when the
ISO 13623 is the Applicable Prime Reference for the design of a submarine pipeline system.
Any contradictions between the GS EP PLR 100 and the ISO 13623 shall
commencement of the design and their resolutions shall be approved by Company.

3. Amendments to the ISO 13623 - for offshore pipeline sections

3.1 General
Where conveyed fluids are overwhelmingly CO2, recommended practice DNV-RP-J202 shall be
applied and used in conjunction with the APR.

3.2 Amendments to 3.1.23 - SMYS

The SMYS (y) addressed by the ISO 13623 is the transverse value.
In some circumstances - such as for reeled pipe and for pipelaying stress analysis - the
longitudinal one may be required.
De-rating for wall thicknesses above 31.8 mm (1"1/4) and temperatures above 50C is
mandatory and information shall be provided in a first approach by the selected pipe suppliers.

3.3 Amendments to 5.1 - System definition

Battery limits shall be defined as GS EP PLR 100.

3.4 Amendments to 5.4 - Overpressure

When assessing the effects from an over pressure, the incidental/accidental pressure shall be
determined further to a process study combined with an hydraulic analysis.
In a first approach, an overpressure equal to 1.1 times the design pressure can be retained refer also to 6.3.2.2 of the ISO 13623.

3.5 Amendments to 6.1 - Design principles

Reliability-based limit state design is at present time not permitted by Company for offshore
pipelines and risers designed under the ISO 13623.

3.6 Amendments to 6.3.2.2 - Temperature

The minimum temperature reached further to an anticipated blowdown shall be calculated.
The method (thermodynamic equations and software) used for this calculation and the
calculation itself shall be approved by Company.

In some circumstances, a supplementary temperature margin may be required by Company.

3.7 Amendments to 6.4.2.2 - Yielding

Longitudinal straining is limited to 2%. Consequences on material characteristics are to be
determined and presented to Company for acceptance, but this does not address straining
induced during reeling operation.

3.8 Amendments to 6.7.3 and to 11 - Testing

The pressure level shall be equal to the strength test pressure.
The strength test and the leak tests (if any) shall - as far as practicable - be combined in one
single test.
The duration of the pressure tests shall not be less than 24 h.

3.9 Amendments to 6.14 - Fabricated Components

Welded branch connections and any other pipeline items shall have a life duration at least
equal to the design life duration of the pipeline.
Welding shall be performed as per GS EP PLR 420 or GS EP PLR 421, as applicable.

3.10 Amendments to 13.4 .6 - Testing of modified pipelines

When leak tests are required, leak tests of 8 hours at 1.1 times the MAOP have to be
considered.
