4 Capac:ilies and Dimensions


4.1 Capacities, dimensions, and <::onstruction details shall <::amply with the applicable requirements ol this
standard.
4.2 Tables 1 and 2 of Appendix A give <::apadtics for eylindricat tanks in gallons per fool of length and in liters
per meter ot Sength. For a tank wilh conical heads, l.he total capacity is obtai.ned by adding one--lhird the height
of Ole heads to the shcUlcogth. For a compartment tank, the total tank capacity is the sum of the capacity of
each compartment
4.3 The total capacity of a tank shaJI not be:
a) less than the reled nominaJ<::apacily and
b) more than 105 percenl of the rated nominal capaorty.
4.4 The total capadly is to be determined at the level of the bwest opentng when the tank is in the intended
lnSiatlaUon posll.ion.
