Childrens Offering
I will be spending Christmas day (after Masses) with my mom and those
in the family who live in Parsons. That is part of the joy of being close to
home, the fact that I can be home before all the other family members
(nieces and nephews) return to their respective homes.
Merry Christmas... today is the day that we remember when we
received the greatest present any of us can remember, grace; grace present
in the person of the Son of God. Jesus came to be one like us in all things
but sin, to show us a love that has never been seen before. The love that we
celebrate is love incarnate because God is love and he cared to send the son
to bring forgiveness and salvation to this world. That is the greatest of gifts
because it allows us to know that we are given the opportunity to return
our love to God with our giving of self. Think of the greatest gift that you
have ever received and the gratitude that you felt that someone cared to
give you that gift. In our giving of self we are showing our gratitude to God
for this gift of love that he shows to us personally, that person is the Son
sent for us.
As we celebrate with family, I wish for you all that family can bring,
including that forgiveness that is sometimes necessary when discussions
turn into disagreements. May this time of joy bring the true joy that each
one of us desires in life, not just for today but for a lifetime.
May the Lord Bless us all with the outpouring of grace as we celebrate
the joy of love among us, the love of God.
