Name: Art Studio (Part of the Arts Precinct)

Description:
• To establish an Art Studio for the use of Visual and Handicraft Artist of the
Flowerdale and Hazeldene Communities
• Meeting held Feb 2010 to bring together community members interested in Arts
and Culture activities. Very successful event, resulted in formation of strong Art
Work Engine, headed by Sharon Collins
• Art Work Engine currently runs art classes at the Flowerdale Hall or at the Spring
Valley Rec. Reserve, until the Art Studio is set up. The Group has received a
large number of donated materials to get the sessions started. They have
surveyed the community to find the kinds of classes that were needed, and have
been focussing these areas to begin with. All information on class running times
will be posted in Flowerdale Newsletter, on the Notice Board at the Hall and sent
through email.
• Auspiced by the Flowerdale Community House
• Regional Arts Victoria is supportive of this project.

Location:
• Currently proposed to be at Spring Valley Recreation Reserve.
o Originally planned to be a separate, purpose built shed in the South East
corner of the Reserve, two other locations on the Reserve are now
proposed as possibilities:
To locate building near existing Blue Scope Steel Storage Shed
To utilise part of the existing Tennis Courts at the South West end
of the Reserve as a location (once the New Tennis Courts have
been constructed)
• Still seeking final resolution on the location of the facility.

Funding:
• VBRRA has sourced a donation for a shed to be used as the Art Studio.
• VBRRA has sourced funding for the fit out of the Art Studio, to bring the donated
shed up to a suitable standard for an Art Studio

Management arrangements:
• Art Work Engine is developing the structure for ongoing management of the site.
• While it is still to be determined, it is expected that use of the facility will be on a
nominal ‘user pays’ system, potentially with the assistance of other grant sources.
• To join the Art Work Engine, please contact Flowerdale Community House at
fch@internode.on.net

Public Access:
• Open to all community members for Art projects

Project Owners:
• This Project is auspiced by the Flowerdale Community House and undertaken by
