Answers
1.(D)
3 = 120
; 4 = 160
third part of the Journey is 3x/2 9.(C)
Let speed of faster horse = x
4.(C)
& in the last third part of the
Let speed of 1st train = x m/s
& speed of slower horse = y
Distance covered in 3 minute Journey time required is 15x/8 & speed of other train = y m/s
x + y = 50/1
= 3*(1000/60) = 50
i.e x+3x/2+15x/8=350 min
(d/x)/(d/y) = 4/5
x + y = 50 ---- (I)
Now he has to cover (500+50) x = 80 min
y/x = 4/5
50/y 50/x = 5/6 ---- (II)
meters in (30-3) minutes
Required time = (d+d)/(x+y)
With the help of option
Required speed = (550/1000)/ 7.(A)
= (4x+5y)/(x+y)
x = 30 kmph
(27/60) = 11/9 km/h
From 1st condition
=( 4*5+5*4)/(4+5) = 40/9
y = 20 kmph
48/u+72/d = 12 ---- (I)
5.(B)
72/u+48/d = 13 ---- (II)
10.(B)
2.(C)
Let Speed of train x = a kmph From eq (I) & (ii)
Let speed of 1st train = x
Total distance = 17*10=170
& Speed of train y = b kmph
u = 8 kmph
kmph
Let Journey travelled by auto
a + b = 300/3 = 100 kmph
d = 12 kmph
& speed of 2nd train = (x+10)
in x hr
The faster trains takes be
Speed of streem = (12-8)1/2 = kmph
25 * x + (10-x ) 5 = 170
atleast = (3+2) hr = 5 hr
2 kmph
So,
25 x + 50 5x = 170
i.e speed of slower train = 40
X*10 = (x+10) 8
x=6
kmph
X= 40 kmph
Required Ans = 6 * 25
i.e time = 300/40 = 7.5 hr
8.(B)
Required Average speed =
= 150 km
D = 9/2 = 4.5 kmph
(2*40*50)/(40+50) = 44(4/9)
6.(B)
U = 9/6 = 1.5 kmph
3.(B)
Let the time token in first third x = (4.5+1.5) 1/2 = 3.5 kmph
S1/S2 = (9/16)^1/2
part of the Journey be x minute, y = (4.5-1.5)1/2 = 1.5 kmph
S1/S2 =

Solutions
S1. Ans.(a)
Sol. 8 M = 18 days
M = 18 8 = 144 days
W = 18 10 = 180 days
C = 6 12 = 72 days
Let work be 720 unit then
M = 5 unit daily
W = 4 unit daily
C = 10 unit daily
4 children, 12 men, 20 women = 40 + 60 + 80 = 180 unit
2 = 360 unit
Rest 720 360 = 360 unit
So, no. of children who complete in 1 day = 360/10 = 36

S4. Ans.(c)
Sol. 2 sheep = 500 Rs.
12 sheep = 500 6 = 5 oxen
3 oxen = 600 3 = 2 houses
1 horses = 900 Rs.

S6. Ans.(e)
Sol. Per hour = 15/6
2 zoology = 3 botany
40 zoology = 60 botany
So, she can do in 60/2.5 = 24 hour
She take break = 15 24/6 = 60 minute = 1 hour
Total = 25 hour

S8. Ans.(a)
Sol. (x 12) men in 32 day.
20x = 32(x 12) or x = 32
