POLS 100: American Government
Fall 2013: Introduction to American politics and policies.
IDL 190: Freshman Seminar
Fall 2013: Freshmen Seminar introducing freshmen to policies and procedures along
with introducing ideas to help freshmen adjust to the new college atmosphere. The
section I was in was focused in on History majors.
HIST 151: U.S. History I
Fall 2013: Class surveying the background and development of the United States
from its colonial origins to the Civil War and Reconstruction.
HIST 152: U.S. History II
Summer 2014: Surveys development of the United States since Civil War and
Reconstruction.
HIST 121: Western Civilization I
Summer 2014: Surveys evolution of western civilization from its beginnings into the
Reformation and religious wars.
HIST 122: Western Civilization II
Fall 2013: Surveys development of western civilization from the Reformation era to
the present.
GEOG 210: World Regional Geography
Fall 2013: A survey of the Earth from a broad global framework through the
differentiation of the world in terms of both natural and human environmental
features and characteristics on a regional basis. Throughout this class, I took an in
depth look at different cultures around the world and compared them to my own.
Various journals and videos were watched and analyzed as a part of this class.
ENGL 101: Composition I
Fall 2013: Practice skills of developing and documenting writings in a logical order
and way.
SPED 100: Intro to Persons with Exceptionalities
Fall 2013: Introduces needs of students that may require different accommodations
in the classroom. Introduced terminology commonly used in the Special Education
field.
MATH 102L: College Algebra + Lab
Spring 2014: College Algebra class that reintroduces basic algebraic equations and
theories.
ENGL 230: Literature for Younger Readers
Spring 2014: Study of literature written for young children or early adolescents. This
particular section focused on the Harry Potter series written by J.K. Rowling. We read
and evaluated two of the texts. We also watched the film versions and evaluated
them. Crucial terminology of character and plot were discussed.
ENGL 201: Composition II
Spring 2014: Improves upon what was learned in Composition I; further develops
writing and documentation. This section was based on trauma. We learned more
about trauma and read texts, watched film, and wrote papers about trauma and its
effects.
BIOL101L: Biology 101 + Lab
Spring 2014: Introduction to biology of plants, humans, and cells. Lecture class with
quizzes and tests.
WELL100L: Wellness for Life + Lab
Summer 2014: Introduced healthy ways of living when it comes to eating and
exercising. Also addressed mental and spiritual well-being.
SPCM 101: Fundamentals of Speech
Fall 2014: Introduces how to write and speak well, publicly. I learned how to develop
and plan a speech step by step and finally, deliver it.
Math 341: Math Concepts for Teachers I:
Fall 2014: Class 1 of 2 that introduces ways of teaching math to students. Notes and
activities were done daily; mathematical literature was introduced.
Math 342: Math Concepts for Teachers II:
Spring 2015: Class 2 of 2 that introduces ways of teaching math to students. Notes
and activities were done daily. We created projects using food and paper. Amongst
other things, to introduce concepts.
LIBM 205: Childrens Literature
Spring 2015: Class where multiple forms and genres of childrens literature were
introduced. We developed flannel board stories, developed newsletters, and created
thematic units.
EPSY 428: Child and Adolescent Development
Fall 2014: We raised virtual children to learn more about their developmental stages
and created PowerPoints that showed their stages of development and highlights of
their life.

EDFN 455: Literary Assessment and Instruction
Spring 2016: This course will focus on current research in the area of literacy,
including effective instructional strategies and methodologies. Students will also
investigate the use of formal and informal literacy assessment instruments.
ARTE 310: K-8 Art Methods
Spring 2016: Learned different projects and ways to introduce artistic strategies to
young students. Designed a lesson around an assigned topic; mine was drawing.
Used an artist as an inspiration (mine was Tanaka Tatsuya).
ART112: Drawing II
Spring 2016: Elaborated talents learned in Drawing I, focused more on figures and
portrait.
ARTH211: History of World Art I
Summer 2016: Art and architecture in the historical and contextual development of
the role of visual arts including crafts, drawing, painting, sculptures and
architecture, in the historical and cultural development of world civilizations from
prehistory through the fourteenth century.
EDFN 475: Human Relations
Summer 2016: This course is designed to reflect the six strands of the human
relations component mandated by the South Dakota Board of Education. Students
will develop expertise in listening and communication to create a climate within the
school environment that is more conductive to learning. The course is also designed
to help the education and to encourage the teachers to be more aware of ways to
strengthen community involvement in the school. Another area that will be
addressed is the dehumanizing impact of biases and negative stereotyping.
ELED 395: Practicum: Elementary Reading
Fall 2016: This was the Reading Clinic experience. I tutored a 4 th grade student for a
few months and helped improve their reading and fluency levels.
ELED 360: K-8 Social Science Methods
Fall 2016: We learned how to incorporate history in the classroom in more ways in
an effort to expose students to more social studies. Studied the constitution and
brought in guest speakers.
ELED 330: K-8 Math Methods
Fall 2016: Learned how to teach math in new Common Core ways along with how to
make projects more fun and gained a broader understanding of new ways of
teaching math.
