BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Growing international trade, developments in transportation

systems, and the mobility of goods have all created new
opportunities for multimodal transport, which involves the use of
more than one mode to form an integrated transport chain. In this
case, multimodal transport has been added to the mode choice
decisions/alternatives of decision making parties.
At the outset, the ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint
provides a more appealing investment climate to all community
members. Philippines, as a member state, benefit to such strength
particularly to regions at strategically situated areas. General
Santos City, a city geographically located at the southernmost part
of the Philippines, will thereby become an ideal trade center as a
gateway to ASEAN countries improving its role from being the
industrial trade hub of the region.
The international freight market has a wealth and variety of
transport providers to meet the needs of domestic or international
trading companies.
To compete in the new normal economy, the researchers
proposed an air and land freight forwarding business to be built in
General Santos City. It will be an independent company that acts as
intermediaries or agent member between importers and exporters;
manage the physical movements of the goods; ensure that the
clients goods receive the priority it requires.
