Functional description
Functional overview
The FBBA sub-module is an optional extension to the Flexi Multiradio BTS System
Module.
One FBBA provides a hardware baseband capacity for up to three 20 MHz LTE cells
with 2x2 MIMO.
FBBA is 1U high and it is IP65 ingress protected.
FBBA operates at the temperature range from -35 to + 55 C.
Figure 35 presents the isometric view of the FBBA.

Isometric view of the FBBA

Interfaces
The FBBA provides the following external interfaces:

One -48 VDC input

One -48 VDC output
One baseband extension interface for interconnecting FBBA and Flexi Multiradio
System Module
One SRIO (Serial Rapid Input/Output) interface for an external baseband extension,
for example additional System Module
One optical OBSAI RP3-01 interface with up to 6 Gbit/s towards RF Module or
Remote Radio Head

LEDs
The FBBA has three tri-color LEDs on the front panel to indicate the operational status
of the sub-module and all fault conditions during operation.
The LED indications of the sub-module are listed and explained in the table Extension
sub-module LEDs (from left to right).

Operational status

Red: Module self-test or reset (LED red for < 5 seconds) or major
alarm or critical alarm
Red, blinking: Minor alarm
Yellow: Stand-by or blocked
Yellow, blinking: SW download or configuration ongoing, module
non-operational
Green: Module operational
Green, blinking: Module is loading software or parameters or
local maintenance access when modules are operational
