treatment and employee development in a safe and supportive

Happy Quacks will undergo expansion after a year through
constructing additional building and adding parent stocks for
the purpose of increasing their production to supply larger
amount in the demand supply gap.

CHAPTER 1
A. INTRODUCTION
Duck raising has been practiced in the Philippines
for such a long time that nobody can say exactly when it
started. It was introduced here by early Chinese traders.
The Spaniards found it already a thriving industry in
Pateros, Rizal, which is still the centre of the duck in
the Philippines. (Fronda, 1972)
Duck raising is the most profitable and economical

it is of enormous benefits and it cannot be underestimate
in a home meal for better health development and natural
cure diseases.
In recent years, quail raising for egg production
is slowly gaining popularity. In 1999 quail population is
estimated at 1.6 M. This is projected to grow to 2.4 in
2003.

Despite

the

lack

of

information

on

feeding

and

management of quails, some entrepreneurs have invested in

commercial quail production. Some quail farmers are now
keeping populations of 10,000 to 80,000 birds. However,
majority of the quail raiser are still the smallhold or
hobbyist

types.

As

an

emerging

agricultural

activity,

wide opportunities for the development and organization

of its production system remain.
Quail farming business is very easy, lucrative and
entertaining. Its very easy to maintain a quail farm,
because quails are among the smallest species of poultry
birds.

wild

quails and revealed the ways to raise them as domestic

birds.

The main goal of this section is to find out the problems

that exist in duck & quail egg production in Zambales. For
poultry egg producers, the marketing problems always exist as
marketers move goods across provinces and seasons, from lowprice markets across time and from periods of abundance to
periods of scarcity. Hence there is need to investigate the
various market scenarios and distribution flow of poultry feed

Significance of the Study
The purpose of this study is to provide knowledge

poultry farming. This research will help the Zambalenos to

uplift their lives and the society.
Furthermore, this study will serve as a guideline for the
future use of some beginners whose interest lies on poultry
business.
Statement of Hypothesis
If the production of farm goods increases
