1. My opinion about 212 actions at monas

Latest times, Indonesia is shocked with a video in Youtube. It is a video who
maked followers of Islam or moslem people felt their Al-quran and religion insulted.
The insult did by a non-active governor of Jakarta. He is Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or
called Ahok. He talked about epistle of Al-Maidah;51 in the video and used
unpleasure words for that. This problem made moslem people in Indonesia did a
peace action three times. The last one did in december 2, 2016 at monas. The
demands of actions participants were asked police to prosecute and put Ahok into the
jail. Additionally, they did not only deliver their demands but also did Islamic
activities such as pray jumat together, sholawat, and pray to Allah SWT about
Indonesian unity.
According to Prof. Dr. Didin Hafidhuddin MSc in 2016. He stated that people
who strive for maintenance of law is they who seriously keep unity of NKRI,
diversities, and the wholeness of archipelago. So, 212 action really aimed for
goodness of all people in Indonesia. Not only for moslems but also they who believe
on other religion such as hinduism, buddhism, christianity, and hong ucu.
As a moslem, I think this is the best way to defend our religion and Al-Quran
because 212 action showed to the world that Al-Quran is a pure book with any
miracles which gave by Allah SWT directly. One of Al-Qurans miracles is able to
collect millions people at the same aim and time such as in 212 action, it was showed
how great and powerful Al-Quran. Its mean, Nobody can insult Al-Quran although
a capital governor did it, finally he got the effects of what he has done.
Im glad to participants of 212 action. They really keep cleanness of Monas,
keep calm, and follow the rules. These attitudes have showed what Al-Quran has
been taught to moslems. Moreover, these attitudes can change bad impressions of
Islam because there are many people in the world thinking that Islam is a cruel
religion and moslems are attacker and destroyer.
At the time, I did not follow 212 action. It causes my activities that I could not
leave but I have my own way to defend my religion. It is praying for Ahok. It does not
mean I agree with Ahok instead I wished Ahok be a moslem. I think, there is no
something impossible. No one knows wether or not Ahok will be a moslem. Why I
prayed for Ahok because that is what my prophet Muhammad SAW have taught. He
has prayed for Umar bin Khattab so that Umar joined in Islam. Umar bin khattab was
hated moslem and wanted to killed Prophet Muhammad SAW. When Prophet
Muhammad Saw would pray for Umar then why we dont.

I always believe that every problem has a lesson for us. That is also happen in
this insult case. According to Ippho Santosa in 2016, he stated that we have to learn
from the experience because of this phenomenal case have a source from a man who
cant controled his words. Therefore, I can learn that Allah has given us a tongue and
mouth to say anything but he also has given us a brain and heart to balance those all.
2. How I see islamic majority in Indonesia
Indonesia is a rich country. It has many cultures, ethnics, and religions. These
are presents from god to Indonesian people but these things also will be a great
disaster if people cant keep understanding and tolerance. It causes of those are
sensitive things. One of effect from misunderstanding and mistolerance is 212 action.
It made the most of capital city full of moslems who want deliver their demands for
christian person. It is Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or called Ahok. He has hurt heart of
moslems in a country which islam is the majority.
Indonesia is a country with islamic majority. That is good for moslem who live
in Indonesia because it is bring out benefits for them such as they will not feel
difficult to do their life. They will easier to accept in social relation such as in
neighborhood, school, and work places. Moreover, moslems in Indonesia will find
halal food everywhere easily not like in other country which moslem is minority.
Moslems in Indonesia can do Islamic activities easily. They can do it
everywhere and everytime. They will easy to find mosque to pray, islamic school for
moslem children, islamic university, and place for recitation of Al-Quran. Its mean,
moslems in Indonesia have big opportunity to learn more about islam. Moreover,
islam will bring kindness for Indonesia itself.
Islam will always bring kindness and peace for Indonesia. It causes of islam
and Al-Quran teach to moslem about goodness and rational lesson. Its mean, if the
religion majority of Indonesia is islam, there will be many people learn and do what
Al-Quran teach. So, goodness and peace will always happen at whole Indonesia.
Nevertheless, Indonesia has many problems. It comes from all people included
moslems. Something important to understand is its not causes of islam because islam
teach good things. The problems back to the people or person who make it.
3. My favourite culture and the reasons
Indonesia is a multicultural country. It causes of Indonesia has big and wide
area. Every place in Indonesia usually has a tradition or something unique from the
society because the culture which they have was came from their habitual, believe,
and geographical usually. For example such as at west java, it has Karawitan art. One
of karawitan instruments is angklung. Long time ago, west java people was believed
that angklung able to call Dewi Sri (Nyi Sri Pohaci) while they are harvesting rice.
Angklung is my favourite culture. I think, It is something awesome when a
wood of bamboo able to make nice tones to hear. I like to enjoy angklung music even
I have learned angklung in campus and Rumah Angklung Indonesia. There are many
attitude lessons that I have from angklung such as learn to be more patient, humble,
and cooperation. When I played angklung, I have a pride for myself because I could
produced beautiful tones with my friends. Beside that, I was happy because I can be

one of entertainer in angklung group and make everyone happy because of angklung
music from my friend and I. Moreover, angklung is not only entertain tool but also
good for health.
Angklung is a therapy tool. Angklung have a curative powers. It can be a
pleasurable method for therapy several diseases which usually connected to brain or
mentalities such as stroke, mental disturbance, and autism. According to Dr. Ali Zaden
in 2012, he stated that music is being good for children who have mental flaw. They
are couldnt teach by guitar. They will be better if teach by a simple and easy
instruments, the instruments should be play together so that they can stimulate to
make relation one each other.
Playing angklung continuesly stimulate neuropathic system of our brain work
so that we will always train our mentality. When our brain is working, it will give
good influences for our brain abiliy and health especially suferrer of stroke, mental
disturbance, and autism. Contrariwise, if we seldom to train our brain we will not
increase our brain ability to recall and analyse something. Moreover, people who have
diseases connected to brain will lessen their brain ability. So that, one time their brain
cant work. They will senile and cant thinking.
Angklung can bring someone to explore the world. Its fact. I have met and
saw how angklung have a power to bring people to abroad. They are participants of
Rumah Angklung Indonesia. They have came to japan, czech republic, etc because of
angklung.
4. My view about English learning in Indonesia
English is an important language. It can be a key for us to reach our dreams to
around the world. These statements cause of English is an international language. Its
mean, when you come to every country for example like japan. You will use English
not japanese. Thats why, English has learned and used in every country as first
language, second language, and foreign language. One of countries that have been
learning English is Indonesia.
Indonesia is a country which make English as foreign language. It thought to
students from primary school as compulsory subject. Additionally, English also
become an obligate lesson in junior and senior high school. At college, there is some
courses of English such as English education and English literature.
Indonesian decision to make English as foreign language is an advanced
process. Its mean, ability of Indonesian people is tried to equal with people in other
advanced and developed countries. Unfortunately, English learning is reputed to be
difficult by Indonesian students.
The most general school in Indonesia fail to teach English. It proved by many
of students who cant speak English, write in English, get information from English
audio, and read vocabularies correctly. Actually, there are still many students able to
do those skills but the sum is smaller than they who cant.
Reasons of the problems are teacher lazy to explore the class with new
method, many of English teachers who did not learn in English education and
education faculty, students less motivation, etc. This situation must be change. Then,
changeover only can be do by English teacher itself.

Statements above agree with opinion of an expert. According to Mr. Prof.

Jayakara Mukundan in 2016. He stated that many of English teachers in Indonesia is
too cling on the text books and only endeavour to done the curriculum. So that,
teachers are not creative because of they forgot about appropriate approach and
method in teaching process, teachers also have to explore students creativity so that
students will more understand the material. So, teaching English is not only deliver
the material so that it will done. A teacher also have to understanding how well
students progress in English ability.
5. My way to attract my students to learn English
Students think English is a difficult lesson. That is my challenge as English
teacher but its really interesting me. I dont know why. I think that I have to solve this
students problem and I imagined how happy I am when I can do it. Im not mean to
be arrogant but sorry to say, its easy to solve the problem because nowdays are really
many of interesting methods, pleasure activities, advanced technology, and learningteaching instrument provided. I only need to searching, understanding, modifying if
needed, and make or buy the instruments.
Making good mindset about English. This is the first thing that I will do to my
class. Its important because it will give good influences along the lesson. I can say to
my students that the material which they will learn is easy. Moreover, if the material
exactly difficult, Ill say Students, this material is easy if you focus. At least, this
way make they learn without a burden that the material is difficult. I believe that when
someone do something with good mindset, the result will be better. On the contrary,
bad mindset can make them worry, stress, and nervous. So, the result will not
maximum.
Teaching the real life. I will not teach grammar in the same way like I teach
mathematics. It will burden my students. so, I will let them speak about their
experiences because there is a nonsense when they learn something unrelated with
their real situation. So, my students have to know the reason why they learn a material
in English lesson in the real life although I know it can not do for all material. For
example, next meeting they will learn about procedure text. Then, I will ask each
students to bring their stuffs to show the procedure.
Using technology to teach my students. Usually, its mainstream. Something
different from my way is in the content. For example, I teach students in junior high
school, then I will teach narative text material to them. I will use fenomenal things for
my powerpoint such as use frozen, iron man, or minion picture for the background.
Moreover, its possible if I use English short cartoon video. It causes of the way to
learn of each students are different. Many of them will easier to understand when they
see picture or listening.
Sometimes, I will give games to my students if the time available. The games
will still related with the material at the day. For example, I give new vocabularies
about verb to my students. I can give Simon Say game.
6. What I see from the proverb Teaching is like cooking
Teaching is like cooking. I think, this is appropriate proverb to analogize
teaching. The reasons are both activities have the same steps and rely on capability of

someone. Additionally, there are many terms in cooking which difference with terms
in a learning-teaching process but the terms have the same meaning indirectly. For
example, cooking has ingridients term and teaching has learning-teaching forces
term. Meaning of the terms are stuffs or basic utilities that needed to cooking or
teaching.
Ability of a chef is different. There is a lot of master chefs but not little chefs
who amateur. They will produce different taste of food although the kind of food is
same. On the same cases, that things also happen in teaching.
Nowdays, we know teachers quality is different. We can see the quality of
teacher from their experiences, how they teach students or how students scores. I
mean, difference teacher will give difference knowledge although they teach same
materials. It can be causes of wide or narrow the explanation, the examples of
material, and teacher perseptions. Moreover, There are many teacher who creative and
inovatif will produce creative students too and make progress of students knowledge.
On the contrary, lazy teacher will not change anything of students even harme the
students and their parents.
Cooking needed ingridients. When a chef will cook. He will make a plan and
prepare what he need, then choose the right ingridients. Additionally, he will
approximate the time to cook, so he will produce the taste that he planned or wanted.
Thats what happen in teaching process.
A teacher also needed ingridients. According to Majid in 2005, he stated that a
teacher have to arranging steps of teaching before learning-teaching process held. The
aim is to reach the objective of lesson. So, a teacher have to make a plan and prepare
sets of equipment that he will use in teaching. He have to prepare syllabus, lesson
plan, material of teaching, the method, the activities, the assessment, ice breaking, etc.
These all have to prepare and choose appropriately, then blended to be a good
learning process.
