Review of Related Literature
2.1 Definition of Tourism
There is various definition of tourism. According to Hongkong Bureau
(2013) tourism means the temporary short-term movement of people to
destinations outside the place where they normally live and work, as well as their
activities during their stay at these destinations.
According to Arista (2011), Tourism is a term to define a certain situation when
tourists do a travel activity by themselves. In short tourism is an activity in a
society related to tourist. Moreover, tourism is an activity that inseparable from
human life, particularly related to societys social and economic condition.
In other words, tourism is an activity in short period of time that need tourist to
get involved in it, and it influence the societys state in that particular tourism
places surroundings.
2.2 Definition of Educational Tourism
According to Puteri (2012), educational tourism is tourism activity that could
form someones personality, and mental state. It differentiates into 4:

It is kind of tourism that focused on science education.

3.1 Research Method
The writer uses descriptive qualitative method to complete his research. The
writer looking for the data he needs through the internet and also do a kind of
interview with the museums director. From the data he got, he makes an analysis
and example of tourism planning to that particular tourism place as well.

Findings and Discussion
4.1 The Purpose of the Establishment of the Museum
According to Webster Online Dictionary, museum is an institution
devoted to the procurement, care study, and display of objects of lasting
interest or value. In this place also the objects are exhibited. Therefore, the
existence of this kind of place is very important to the locals, researcher,
and students. This kind of place also can be an alternative of tourist
destination for tourist in general. It also can be media of study for people
especially the local citizen because it is related to multidiscipline sciences.
The purpose of the establishment of Frater Vianney Zoology Museum is
not far away from what have been discussed in the first paragraph which is
for tourism and study purpose as well. Since the museum was established
under Mardiwiyata foundation which is devoted to education, if the
visitors was student of elementary school, they are not allowed to just
sightseeing the collections there, but they should jolt down what the guide
says.
According to Frater Clemens, beside for research and study purpose,
the museum is also help animal conservation in East Java. It is because the
museum joined the East Java Animals Conservation Department and
usually the department give the museum some species of animals (not
mummified) to look after before the department put them into
conservation area.
4.2. The Importance of Promotion for Frater Vianney Zoology
Museum
According to Stanston (2002), promotion includes, advertising,
personal selling, sales promotion, and other selling tools. It means that if
someone want to do a good promotion they need to include those aspects.
Promotion is important to keep their products, institution or company
survive in the market.
Frater Vianney Zoology Museum have been established in 2004,
approximately 12 years ago, but not many people notice the existence of
the museum. The museum already do some promotion, for example they

From that data, the writer makes a conclusion that Frater Vianney Zoology
Museum lack of number of visitors because of several reasons. Firstly, it is
because the lack of the promotional way. They only did the conventional way of
promotion trough brochure and door to door. There is the internet and social
media, but they did not use that. Secondly, the location is unusual, and no one
will notice it unless there were sign that let everybody know that there is a
museum.
Chapter 5
Conclusion
Educational tourism object is very important whether for the visitors, the
developer and the local citizen as well. Tourism is an industry that has a big
potential to significantly increase revenue of a country. It also has an
important role for the countrys development. It is because the country earned
much money from this sector only. Thus, the money can be used to enhanced
the infrastructures and the facilities of a particular country.
According to Mathieson and Wall (1986), tourism is parts of one cycle of
activities where people move from their usual destination to another place for
certain period of time. And in that destination there are facilities to make
things easier either during trip or in the destination itself. In the other words,
tourism is an activity that involved human that moved from their usual
surrounding to another place and the purpose is usually to amuse themselves.
One of the factor that attract visitors to visit a destination is the
amusement they offered. Amusement or pleasure is very vital especially
Indonesia. Therefore, education tourism is the least attractive. Because it
offers the least of amusement. But with some strategies that is not impossible
to attract more visitors in the future.
