How can we compare Macbeth to Lady Macbeth?

Lady Macbeth and Macbeth are similar in many different many

ways but the most important thing that binds them together is
the ambition to get to the top no matter what. From the play
Macbeth we can infer many things that join them together but
the most abundantly clear ones are as follows. Macbeth quotes
Stay you imperfect speaker, tell me more which the turns into
I have learned, by the perfect st report. While Lady
Macbeth quotes The raven himself is hoarse that croaks the
fatal entrance of Duncan under my battlements. Come, you
spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill me
from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty. Make thick
my blood, stop up thaccess and passage to remorse, that no
compunctious visitings of nature shake my fell purpose, nor
keep peace between th effect and it. Come to my womans
breasts, and take my milk for gall, you murdring
ministers, wherever in your sightless substances you wait on
natures mischief. Come, thick night, and pall thee in the
dunnest smoke of hell, that my keen knife see not the wound it
makes, nor heaven peep through the blanket of the dark, to cry
Hold, hold! Lady Macbeth speaks these words in Act 1, scene
5, lines 3652, as she awaits the arrival of King Duncan at her
castle. In this speech, there is no confusion, as Lady Macbeth is
clearly willing to do whatever is necessary to seize the throne.
Macbeth shows his ambition because of his quotes. The Key
words in the first quote is Imperfect which turns into perfect
st. This shows the ambition because first of all when the weird
sisters are greeting him he calls them imperfect speakers but in
the time that the weird sisters disappear and he writes the
letter to Lady Macbeth his Ideas have changed and he wants
this to happen to him that is why he has changed his mind.
Stay tell me more tells me that eager to find out more and
wants to know more and he cannot wait and that shows his
ambition. They are going to kill the king. Lady Macbeth was a
not a womanly figure but she wanted to be masculine and that
made the 17th century audience think she was a witch and that

makes the contradiction between the weird sisters and her. The
audiences response in the 17th century would say that killing
the king is very wicked because of divine right and that means
that royalty is next to god. This of course a myth because, they
made this up so royalty would not be killed.
Lady Macbeth also has many differences but the most known
difference is something that the 17th century might find peculiar
that Macbeth is feminine and Lady Macbeth is masculine. The
quotes that tell us this is When you durst do it, then you were
a man and We fail? But screw your courage to the sticking
place and we will not fail. The first quotation has a simple but
important meaning. This means when you took the risk then
you are a man. Lady Macbeth is challenging Macbeths
masculinity; this shows that Macbeth is weak. The second
quotation shows that Macbeth has lost his mind and courage
and he needs to screw it back in so he can take the risk and do
what needs to be done. The key word we can pick out the first
quotation is Then. This shows that Macbeth was a honorary
soldier and that he has been weakened because he has to do
that is right. From Lady Macbeths quote we can find out that
Macbeth is unsure but Lady Macbeth is certain that they will not
fail and that is what shows the ambition in Lady Macbeth. The
audience in the 17th century would have thought that Lady
Macbeth was a witch because she did not possess a womanly
spirit but she had a manly spirit and she was able to
manipulate Macbeth. They would think that Lady Macbeth is a
witch because she was not feminine and she did not have an
obedient role.
