Figure 2-8 ZXR10 M6000-16 Slot Location Diagram
There are two MPU slots, three SFU slots, sixteen PFU + PIU slots, and two fan slots.
According to the functions realized by hardware, ZXR10 M6000 mainly comprises the
following parts:
l
MPU
The MPU of ZXR10 M6000 uses 1 + 1 backup mode. It consists of route processing
unit, management unit, Ethernet switch unit and clock unit.
ZXR10 M6000 can connect to the maintenance background through the
10/100/1000M Ethernet electrical port and the Console port on the MPU for the
maintenance and management of the system.
SFU
The SFU of ZXR10 M6000-8 uses 2+1 redundancy backup. The SFU of ZXR10
M6000-16 uses 3+1 redundancy backup. Several SFus can work at the same time.
When an SFU is broken or plugged out, interface access and processing ability are
not affected.
Different SFUs can communicate with each other through internal special
communication links. The working states of SFUs are reported to Main Processing

Module (MPM) in MPU through two internal 1000 M Ethernet interfaces in TRUNK
mode.
SFU provides high-speed data switching channels between PFUs, between PFUs and
service processing boards, and between the local rack and the remote racks.
l
PFU
PFU mainly includes Egress Traffic Manager (TM), Packet Forwarding Module (PFM),
Ingress TM, switching network interface module Fabric Q and Central Processing Unit
(CPU) main control module.
At present, ZXR10 M6000 is designed to support 1port 40G POS line speed access
and forwarding at most. It can be extended to support 2port 40G POS line speed
processing and forwarding, and support 100G Ethernet non-line speed processing
and forwarding.
SJ-20101203114016-003|2011-01-15(R2.0)
ZXR10 M6000 supports 220 V AC power supply mode and 48 V DC power supply
mode. When 220 V AC power supply is used, it is necessary to use assorted power
supply components provided by ZTE. The power supply components commute 220 V
AC power supply to 48 V DC power supply.

Chapter 3
The structure and interfaces of power supply modules in the cabinet are different for
different power supply input modes.
Do not operate on the power supply modules with power on when operating on or
maintaining the modules.
DC power supply mode supports single-phase supply and three-phase supply
according to system demands.
The filter module for AC power supply does not support hot plugging. It is forbidden
to operate on the filter module with power.
SJ-20101203114016-003|2011-01-15(R2.0)
The
The power supply modules are behind the power supply plastic panel. These modules
provide DC power supply input and power supply distribution. There are two inputs and
they are isolated from each other. Once one of the modules is powered on, the system
can work properly. When both modules work, if one module is broken, the other module
is not affected and it still can provide power supply. To ensure the system reliability, it is
recommended to use both power supply modules.

The four levels of fan speed in ascending order are listed below:

The system automatically calculates and adjusts fan speed. The calculation procedure is
described below.
1. The boards send the actual temperatures of various sampling sites to MPU. The
hardware gives the reference temperature of each sampling site according to the
thermal resistance feature of different parts.
2. MPU performs normalized processing of the temperatures of sampling sites based on
the maximal relative temperature of each board (slot).
Suppose that the actual temperature of a sampling site is A; the reference temperature is
R (Fan speed is required to increase to reduce temperature if actual temperature exceeds
reference temperature). The calculation formula for relative temperature (K) is: K=A/R.
The higher K is, the higher the relative temperature. MPU adjusts fan speed by K. The fan
speed adjustment policy of MPU is shown in Table 4-7.

Note:
The fan speed increase/decrease is based on the current fan speed. If the fan speed reaches the
highest/lowest level (100%/25%), no adjustment is performed.
For example, the current fan speed is Level 3 and an increase of three levels is required; fan speed will
be adjusted to Level 4 because the maximal speed level is Level 4. Likewise, if the current fan speed
is Level 2 and a decrease of three levels is required; fan speed will be adjusted to Level 1.

There are two types of MPU of ZXR10 M6000: M6K-MPU-0A and M6K-MPU-1A.
6.2.1 M6K-MPU-0A
6.2.1.1 MPU Overview
M6K-MPU-0A is one of the MPU (Main Processing Unbit) boards of the ZXR10 M6000
series router, It is responsible for system management and routing.
The board integrates two processor systems. In each system, there are two DDRII Dual
Inline Memory Modules (DIMMs). The processor systems provide good processing ability.
The board provides rich types of interfaces for peripherals, such as Universal Serial Bus
(USB) interface, GE interface, RS232 port and interface for CF card and so on. The interior
of the board connects to different peripherals through Peripheral Component Interconnect
Express (PCIE), Serial Gigabit Media Independent Interface (SGMII), Reduced Gigabit
Media Independent Interface (RGMII), Serial Attached SCSI (SAS)/Serial ATA (SATA) and
local bus. Active/standby board changeover, alarm and monitoring to other boards are
realized through logical designs.
The CPU clock rate of M6K-MPU-0A is 1.5 Hz. The L2 cache is 1MByte. MPU has a
built-in SAS/SATA hard disk. MPU supports 8GB DDRII memory and has a built-in flash
card with large capability. A CF card can be plugged in the MPU.
Appearance of M6K-MPU-0A is shown in Figure 6-3.

SPU board is mainly composed of the following functional modules: media plane access
module, media plane switch module, control plane switch module and service processing
module, as shown in Figure 6-19.
Figure 6-19 Main Functional Modules of SPU
The traffic (the data inputted by line cards), which is required to be processed by the
system, is sent to the corresponding SPU board via the switch network. The SPU board
implements services such as packet encryption and decryption (IPSec) and Deep Packet
Inspection (DPI). The traffic, after being processed, is sent to various line cards.

A line interface board is responsible for the conversion between the signals on a physical
link and the data frames at the link layer. After a line interface board receives a frame
and converts it into a message, it sends the message to a packet processing board. The
forwarding engine finds out the destination port and implements high-speed forwarding.
On line interface boards, there are two types of interface sub-units:
l
l
SONET/SDH interface: The default format of the frame encapsulated by link layer is
PPP in HDLC, which can be adjusted into other mode.
Ethernet Interface: The format of the frame encapsulated by link layer is EthernetII.
One PFU can be used to connect different types of services at the same time, such as
POS and Ethernet. This brings flexibility for service providers. They can converge several
low-speed services of different types to the same PFU, which saves the numbers of slots
in the system.

In addition, the RP-10GE-SFP board supports to use electrical interface modules. It also
supports 10/100/1000M sensitive rate. The local rate and duplex mode can be configured
automatically according to the peer maximum rate.
With the rate-sensitive function, when an electrical module are used on the RP-10GE-SFP
board, the board uses the electrical interface as a gigabit automatic negotiation interface.
By negotiating with the peer, the interface can be connected to interfaces with 10 M, 100
M or 1000 M rate without manual configuration or compulsive connection. This function is
triggered by sending BSP signal from the bottom layer. When the bottom layer changes
rate according to the sensitive-rate function, users can find that the counters are cleared
by using the show interface command.

Technical parameters
Multimode fiber: transmitting signals by using the multiple modes of light; used for
short-distance transmission; usually named as the 8.3/125um fiber.
Single-mode fiber: transmitting signals by using the single mode of light; used for
long-distance transmission; usually named as the 50/125um or 62.5/125um fiber.
