Applications Open
This is to notify international students that we are now accepting applications to rent a
room at the International House for the 2016 academic year, fall semester.
1. Application
Pick up the application form at one of the following places and submit the form by July 29,
2016.

2. Deadline: July 29, 2016
*Application by e-mail is accepted only at the Global Education Division.
*Research students and students whove already had academic advisors should submit
the application form through their academic advisors.
*Students who are in programs such as the student exchange program should submit
application form to contact person of the programs.

4. Eligibility
(1) New international students who will enroll in Kumamoto University from the 2016
academic year, fall semester.
*Exclusive of elective course students (called kamokuto-rishusei in Japanese)
(2) International students who have not lived in the International House before.
*Returning international students who had been residents of the International House
before leaving Japan are eligible.
5. Period of Residence

6 months or 1 year
* Applicants who wish to have a specific period of residence, are advised to consult with
the International Student Office individually.
* We are adjusting Move-in date. For undergraduate exchange students, it will be late in
September. For other students, it will be early in October. When we set the move-in
date, we inform you on the website.
*Depending on your Status at Kumamoto University, the permitted period of stay may
be regulated to six months.
6. Notice of acceptance
After selection and room assignment, the notice of acceptance will be sent.

(1) The deposit will be refunded if no equipment or furniture have any damage.
(2) The Common Service Charge is fixed and cant be pro-rate discounted.
(3) A rental fee for Futon (Bedding) is also needed.
(4) Cleaning fee (about 10,000~20,000yen) will be charged when you move out.
(5) Utility fees for room for shared (quad) rooms are subject to change.
8. Responsibilities
Residents of the Kumamoto University International House are required to obey the
regulations of the International House. If you feel it difficult to do so, you are advised to
find other accommodation. For more details, please read the booklet entitled "Kumamoto

University International House Occupant Regulations" which is available at the Global


Education Division.

Moving-in&out have to be done during office hours: Mon-Fri 9am to 4 pm

pm for move-out) on weekdays. (Saturdays, Sundays, National holidays are no


t available.)

Having guests stay overnight in the International House is strictly prohibited.


Lending your room out to others is also strictly prohibited.

You must not lend out or duplicate International House keys.

There may be occasions when personnel and/or other staff members need to
enter rooms without notice in order to do emergency checks on room equipment and furnishings.

Please dispose of your garbage on the specified collection day at designated


site.

All residents must take turns cleaning the garbage station.

Please park bicycles and motorcycles in designated parking places.

To keep the bed mattress clean, please rent futon(bedding).

The International House is a smoke-free residence. You must not smoke in


the buildings.

No pets allowed.
