Miss Altseimers Grade 2 Class!

My name is Nicole Altseimer and I am ecstatic to be your childs teacher for the remainder of this year!
As you are likely aware, your childs previous teacher, Mrs. Letwin, has retired and though we will all be
sad to see her go, I am also very excited to have the opportunity to be the new Grade 2 teacher. One
of my main goals in teaching is to help foster a warm and inviting classroom community where students
can feel supported, valued, and have the opportunity to grow individually and as a group.
I would like to take this time to share something about myself. I studied at Brock University, and have
graduated from the Concurrent Education program qualified to kindergarten to grade twelve. Over the
last few years I have had various teaching opportunities. Each experience has helped me grow as a
teacher and understand the importance of quality education in the early years of a child.
I am excited to be working with this class, as I can tell that they are truly an amazing group of students.
At the Junior level, students will increase their knowledge and understanding, be provided with the
opportunity to increase their thought process, apply their knowledge in real-life situations and
communicate their thoughts and opinions in effective ways. I know that this will be a time full of learning,
not only for the students but for me as well! We have a great semester ahead of us! We will be
reviewing, learning even more, and of course having tons of fun along the way!
I have created a class website that both the students as well as yourself can visit to access lesson
content, assignments/homework, and helpful information through the following link:
http://miss-altseimer.weebly.com. Parents/guardians are also invited to join our class text message
reminder, which allows you to receive text messages informing you of upcoming tests, assignments,
homework, and reminders. This is a one-way text message and email system, where all personal
information remains completely confidential. Teachers will never see your number, nor will you ever
see theirs. To be included in the reminders text @missaltse to (289) 212-0880, or to be reminded via
email, send an email to missaltse@mail.remind.com.
The relationship I have with you and your child is important to me. The more we communicate, the better
chance well have of maximizing your childs potential.
If you have any questions, concerns, or anything else you wish to share with me about your child please
do not hesitate to contact me at naltseimer @bhncdsb.ca. I am looking forward to being in contact with
you and working with your child this year!
Please fill out the attached page, and send it back to school with your child.
Sincerely,

Nicole Altseimer
