Introduction
The creation of intelligent robots is surely one of the most exciting and challenging goals
of Artificial Intelligence. A reasoning robot exhibits higher cognitive capabilities like following
complex and long-term strategies, making rational decisions on a high level, drawing logical
conclusions from sensor information acquired over time, devising suitable plans, and reacting
sensibly in unexpected situations. All of these capabilities are characteristics of human-like
intelligence and ultimately distinguish truly intelligent robots from mere autonomous machines.
Our interest in robots leaned more toward the popular concept of robots as human-like-friends
and servants.
Robot Waiter is now becoming one of the popular trend which using the concept of
artificial intelligence to carry out its work. In many first world countries, such as United State,
United Kingdom and Japan, or even third world country such as Singapore have also introduced
the robot waiter in catering industry. Therefore, our plan is to become the first introducer of The
Robot Waiter with Wireless Ordering and Cleaning System in Malaysia.
The Robot Waiter with Wireless Ordering and Cleaning System is a concept by using
the wireless controlled robot to replace humans as waiters. In a normal restaurant, one waiter
takes order from the customers while another one clear the dirty plate. In this new concept
restaurant, the order can be done by using the tablet and intelligent robot waiter will clear the
table and mop it. Furthermore, the robot waiter does not need to train for few months and we do
not need to afraid that the robot will leave the job. By comparing the Robot Waiter with human
waiter, Robot waiter can work for a longer time but human cannot. Thus, Robot Waiter has
higher efficiency than human waiter.

Robot Waiter is an artificially intelligent robot that can read and respond to human
gestures, expressions and tone of voice, allowing customers to communicate with the robot "just
like they would with friends and family". It is surely a new experience to the customers.

Product/Service
Robot Waiter can take orders, serve food to customers and process payments at its
restaurant. Robot Waiter can also help on changing of cutlery and welcoming of customers to the
restaurant. The restaurant has to adjust the arrangement of the furniture and reduce the number of
tables and chairs to create a path for the robots to move about. There are magnetic strips on the
floor of the eatery to guide the robots on their paths to and from the kitchen and tables. Waiters in
the kitchen will place the dishes on the robots' trays and press the appropriate buttons to send the
machines to the designated tables. Sensors on the robot will ensure a distance of 15cm from any
obstacles in its path.
There have some pros and cons of having robots in todays restaurants. One of the
advantages of having Robot Waiter in Malaysia is restaurant automation. Other than delivering
trays of food and bus tables, Robot Waiters can never be wrong with customers orders. They

have liberated dining places from the use of menus and menu covers and have a table-mounted
touch-screen attached to their belly that allows them or the diners to tap out their food orders.
That clearly says that the billing processes are as faultless as well as swift, reducing the waiting
time of customers. There are also robots that are outfitted with sensors which allow customers to
order food by merely pointing their fingers. Most of them are equipped with radio frequency
identification tags that prevent them from delivering wrong food to the wrong table. They cant
whine and grumble and yet can work for 24/7. They can be extremely patient with customers
complaints and sarcasm, therefore the issues of disputation between customers and waiters can
completely avoided.
However, for sure there are some disadvantages for hiring Robot Waiter in catering
business. One of the disadvantages is mobility. Robot Waiter might be intelligent than human
waiters, but they are far less agile. Since they only rely on sensors to evade obstacles that come
their way, their reflexes are hardly there at all. They can only slow down or stop to shun possible
collision. Therefore, continuous R&D and enhancement of Robot Waiter is being progressing
from time to time to ensure the emergence of more competent robots in the coming years.

Market Analysis
Strength
Restaurant owners can reduce the employment cost of human waiters. Salary and extra payment
such as EPF, welfare bonus and annual leave need to be paid by the employee to the human
waiters and it is much more costly compared to hiring Robot Waiter. Therefore, it is said to be
more cost-effective to go for Robot Waiter.
Speaking multi-languages is one of the important strength should be take note as Malaysia is a
multi-races country. To make it more special from the robots in other countries, we will develop
Robot Waiter that can speak Bahasa Melayu and Bahasa Tamil. Therefore, the customers can
choose the language that they prefer and they will feel more affability in Robot Waiter.

Weakness
Each robot costs more than RM50,000 while waiters are hired for about RM100,000 per year.

Opportunities
In the future, most of the industries will replace the human resource by robot due to its high
efficiency. In Malaysia, it is sure an attractive business which attracts the local or foreign
customer.

Threats
The place we target should be high population in order to get high income. Kuala Lumpur and
Johor Bahru are the suitable places to start up the business.

Business Development Strategy


Since MasterPass had powered an app developed by Pizza Hut and Mastercard, the global
digital payment service, and enables Pepper (humanoid robot waiter) to process customers'
payments quickly and securely, we will cooperate with MasterPass to develop our catering
business on Robot Waiter and enhance our digital payment service. The system allows diners to
pair their MasterPass account with the robot by either tapping the Robot Waiter icon within the
wallet on their phone, or by scanning a QR code on the tablet that the robot holds. Robot Waiter
can then approve and complete the payment by connecting to MasterPass over a Wi-Fi
connection. It can also provide personalised recommendations and offers, and additional
information on products. Besides, new features such as speaking new language such as Bahasa
Malaysia and Bahasa Tamil also a development in our plan to adapt the Robot Waiter in the

culture of Malaysia and make it more special and extraordinary from the other Robot Waiter that
already exists.
