Homofone Conphusion

Students learn about homophones and practice using various homophone pairs in
sentences.

Students practice their writing skills

Supplies:

Writing material

Procedure:
1. Explain to the students what homophone means.
2. Give them a few examples of homophones. Write them on the board and explain their
meanings.
3. Ask the students to give you more examples of homophones. Ask the students to spell
the words and explain their meanings.
4. Write the examples on the board as the students give them.
5. Once you have at least ten pairs of homophones, ask the students to write sentences
using the homophone pairs. Each sentence should use at least one pair of homophones.
6. For a more challenging task, have the students write a story using at least five pairs of
homophones.
7. Have the students read their sentences or stories out to the class. Quiz them on the
spelling of the homophones.
