Fresh colour light brown, weathered colour dark brown, grain size coarse tuff, grain shape
subangular, well sorting, good permeability, open fabric, hardness friable massive structural
Microscopic Description:
The colour is colorless under plane polarized view, grain roundness is subangular to
subrounded , open fabric, well sorted ,this is a pyroclastic rock composed of 35 % of matrix
(volcanic glass) and 65 % of fragment composed with lithic fragment, plagioclase feldspar ,
volcanic glass, opaque minerals, and any other rapid cooling minerals.

35 %
colourless in plane polarized light but black with
the polarizers crossed, no pleocroism, isotropic,
low relief
10 %
colourless in plane polarized light, grain
roundness is subrounded. This fragment is a
fragment tuff(?) expected because of its small size
is difficult to be identified
23 %

medium, fragment roundness is sub rounded, low
birefringence uniaxial positive, absence of
cleavage and alteration
Plagioclase Feldspar
colorless in plane polarized light, no pleocroism,
low relief, refractive index is n mineral < n
medium, fragment roundness is sub rounded, low
birefringence, polysynthetic twinned, carlsbad and
albite twinning is common
