Design & Assembly of Switch Assembly & Testing Machine

Project Title : Switch Assembly & Testing Line
Aim : To design and build an machine (assembly line) which facilitates
the automatic assembly of switch (3mm pressing depth) on EKT
component and solder it thereby checking the continuity of the circuit
in the EKT component within the tolerance band (positional tolerance
of 10micron) as mentioned by the manufacturer. The operational
cycle time is 15 seconds for each component.

Approach :

The complete assembly process is analyzed and is broken down

into sequence of steps resulting in 5 number of stations based
upon various factors that include manufacturing feasibility,
ergonomics, variants, standards, cost and the type of process
A conceptual approach identifying critical process in each station
is done thereby developing respective solutions for the fixture
design, decision on the standard machine elements that are to
be used in order to build the station.
An embodiment stage where all the engineering calculations are
done in building the machine and the selection of appropriate
materials for the fabrication parts.
A 3D model is generated for each of the generated concepts of
the complete machine including the base structure and
enclosure and other control elements.
2D preparation for all the machine elements is then prepared for
the fabrication of the machine and the standard parts are bought
out thereby the assembly of the machine is made.

Design & Assembly of HVAC Conveyor Assembly Line

Project Title : HVAC Conveyor Assembly & Testing Line
Aim : To design and build an machine (assembly line) which facilitates the manual assembly of HVAC
component with 12 stations along with an automated leak testing station to suffice the assembly and the
testing of the component. A 12mts length U-conveyor line with 12 Stations consisting of both Manual and
Automated process including Leak Testing (Test pressure 2.3 bar +/-0.1 bar) of the component, Marking on the
Component for traceability were to be designed.

Design & Assembly of Manual Engine Assembly Line

Project Title : U162 Engine Assembly & Testing Line

Aim : This project consists of a lengthy 40 mts conveyor, which caters for manual Assembly of Engine for a
TVS Moped with automatic leak testing and engine oil filling stations. The critical part of this machine was
leak testing in which test pressure is 0.3bar +/- 0.05. The permitted rejection was 0.05%.Various other driving
& control components like Motors, PLC, MCCB were integrated in completing the machine. There is a
conveyor designed at the bottom of the legs to facilitate the recirculation of the pallet.

Project Title : BMW Automated Frame Assembly Line
Aim : This project consists of a 8mts conveyor line with recirculating pallet setup (top and bottom
conveyors) which includes stations that caters a 5-Ton press with C-Frame for pressing bearing into the
outer frame and Laser Marking along with other mechanical setups. The critical part of this machine was
pressing operation where two bearings has to be pressed simultaneously in to the frame from top and
bottom sides.
