HINDUTVA IS THE COMMON IDENTITY OF THE PEOPLE LIVING IN INDIA

- Mohan Bhagwat: RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat affirmed that the terms
Hindu and Hindutva are an inseparable identity of Hindustan. Stating that RSS is
committed to the ideology of Hindutva, he made it clear that there will be no compromise
on this ideology. He was speaking at the National Remembrance Convention organised
by Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation in Jammu on July 23 to pay
tributes to Dr Mookerjee on his 57th death anniversary.
"Hindutva believes in co-existence and welfare of human beings as a whole, which no
other philosophy teaches in the world." Shri Bhagwat added.Paying rich tributes to
Syama Prasad Mookerjee, he said: He laid down his life to oppose the discriminatory
tendencies and the theory of two constitutions, two flags and two heads of state within
one nation.
Others who spoke at the function were BJP president Rajnath Singh, Brig. (Retd) Suchet
Singh while Thupstan Chhewang, president, UT Morcha, Ladakh, presided over the
function.
RASHTRA SEVIKA SAMITI ORGANISES 29 TRAINING CAMPS ACROSS THE
COUNTRY: "The feeling that this country belongs to me should always be in our heart
and we should feel the countrys joys and sorrows. This is the real Hindutva, said
Pramilatai Medhe, Pramukh Sanchalika of Rashtra Sevika Samiti. She was addressing a
gathering of Samiti activists at a training camp organised in Delhi on June 21. A total of
110 sevikas from different parts of Delhi underwent training at the two-week-long
training camp that began on 6 June.
The Pramukh Sanchalika appealed to the Samiti activists to feel proud of their mother
tongue and speak only in mother tongue at home. She said Hinduism is not a way of
worship but a lifestyle and we should become a true Hindu with our deeds too.
KANCHI SHANKARACHARYA AT THE INTER-FAITH DIALOGUE: 1.Exactly
one month ago to the date, the Pope went to Jerusalem where Jesus was born, for a
similar dialogue that the Vatican had undertaken with the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. At
the end of that meeting when the Pope and Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Yona Metzer jointly
addressed the press and media, the Chief Rabbi thanked the Pope for assuring the Chief
Rabbinate that the Catholic Church would desist and cease from all missionary and
conversion activities among the Jews. This is construed as endorsed and agreed by the
Pope since he was present at the press meet. We need a similar commitment from the
Church for Hindus.
2. After such inter-faith meetings, the points agreed have to be faithfully abided.
Otherwise, there will be no point in holding such meetings. Unless the Church reassures
Hindus that it will not conduct itself in a manner that wounds Hindu sensibilities and
follows up on those assurances, such inter-faith meetings, no matter how frequently they
are held, will be futile and not serve any meaningful cause.3. In 1999, Pope John Paul-II
had stated that the mission of the Vatican was to plant the Cross in Asia in the third
millennium to facilitate the Christianising of the world, which alone would cause the
Second Coming of Jesus Christ. The Pope must tell us the rationale for the First Coming
of Jesus Christ when there was no Christianity or the Church to undertake the mission to
Christianise the world.

4. We see the USCIRF (US Commission on International Religious Freedom) as an

intrusive mechanism of a foreign government to interfere in the internal affairs of this
country. The USCIRF, which has been permitted to visit this country to hold meetings
with our people to ascertain religious freedom in our country, must no longer be
permitted to enter this country on this intrusive mission. We will not allow external
interference into our internal affairs.5. We know that very large amounts of money come
into this country for churches and Christian groups, ostensibly for charitable work. These
funds should be used only for social causes like health, education, etc, and should not be
used for religious conversion. During these dialogues, it should be agreed that the funds
should be distributed to all organisations who do charitable work, irrespective of the
organisations religious faith. ..7. Hindu dharma is by nature diverse and so all different
panths and sampradayas co-exist on this bhumi without seeking to destroy the others.
..We expect that religions which have come to this bhumi from other lands will respect
this vital characteristic of Hindu dharma and not do anything to subvert or disturb the
sense of nationhood of this country. Hindu dharma and the Hindu people welcome
Christians and Muslims, Parsis and Jews to make this land their home. We encourage
all religions to live with mutual respect and harmony in a shared sense of nationalism
which should bind us all as one nation. Nationalism should come first.
9. Most of the countries in the world (USA, UK, Japan, Middle-East nations, Pakistan,
Sri Lanka etc.), adopt national resolutions and statements of intent proclaimed by their
governments and their tallest religious bodies, affirming their determination to protect
and defend the culture and the religion from which their cultures derive. In India alone
we pass resolutions which officially and legally promote an irreligious and unspiritual
creed called secularism. Secularism is an administrative quality; it cannot be the soul of
this nation. The soul of this nation is religious and spiritual. We call upon our government
and other important religious bodies to recognise this truth and affirm their commitment
to protect the soul of this nation.10.The Buddhist Mahasangh and the joint committee of
Buddhist organisations have declared their intention to get the Sri Lankan government to
pilot and pass a national anti-conversion bill and make it law. We welcome this move and
strongly endorse this measure.11.The Church in India must stop forthwith the use of
Hindu religious words, phrases and symbols like Veda, Agama, rishi, ashram, Om and
other such in what is referred to as inculturation tactics, but which are only intended to
deceive the vulnerable sections of our people who are the intended targets for religious
conversion. This is also insulting to and wounding the religious sensitivities of Hindus.
Similarly, it has been brought to our notice that some churches are scripting a new Bible
for the new converts by usurping sections of our sacred Vedas, Upanishads and Puranas
and incorporating them into the Bible. This must stop immediately and all such Bibles
must be withdrawn from circulation. We urge the Indian government to look into the
issue and do the needful. ( Excerpts from the points that Pujya Kanchi Shankarachraya
made at the inter-faith dialogue.) Organiser, 28 June, 2009
MASSIVE RELIEF WORK BY RSS IN CYCLONE AFFECTED SUNDERBANS:
It was a nightmarish experience for 50-odd swayamsevaks who were desperate to reach
Hingalganj jetighat criss-crossing inaccessible riverine villages in the Sunderbans after
Aila cyclone battered and ravaged the Bengals famous archipelago of islands on May 25.
The rivers Kalindi and Raimangal were turbulent and wind speed was not less than 60 km

per hour even 24 hours after the cyclone lashed the Sunderbans.
They hired a large vessel with a capacity to carry about 6 tonnes relief materials for
distribution among cyclone hit villagers separated from the main land. Risking lives, they
finally reached Jetighat, Hemnagar, Mandirghat and Parghumta villages where thousands
of marooned villagers were awaiting government relief for three days since the Aila
blown away their hamlets. They had no food and drinking water during those 72 hours.
The team of swayamsevaks, led by North 24 Pargana zilla karyavaha Shri Sukumar
Vaidya, was the first batch of volunteers to reach them braving natures fury. Initially
starving villagers took swayamsevaks as state government relief employees and started to
hurl abuses.
However, when the distressed villagers discovered that they were RSS volunteers and
risked their lives to bring them relief materials, they were simply over-joyed and begged
pardon for their initial mistake. Women blew conch-shells to welcome the swayamsevaks
in their mud houses. Packets of dry food, water pouches, milk powder and clothes
brought by swayamsevaks were distributed with full cooperation of the distressed
villagers.
This is the same area where the local CPI(M) MLA Gopal Gayen from Hingalganj was
roughed-up and the chief minister, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee received abuses from relief
deprived villagers on June 2. The distressed villagers in Hingalganj block in the riverine
Sunderbans made it amply clear that even in misery they had more respect for honest and
hard-working swayamsevaks of the RSS than callous elected communist leaders strutting
about in the corridors of power.
The RSS has a well-knit organization in the Sunderbans under north and south 24
Parganas. There are one teacher-one school establishments in 90 villages.
Swayamsevaks of the two neighbouring districts have set up 32 relief camps and feeding
about 30,000 cyclone hit hapless villagers daily since 26 May. The worst affected are the
five blocks, Hasnabad, Najat, Sandeshkhali I & II and Hingalganj. Here 50 shakhas are
affected due to large-scale inundation. Swayamsevaks are running two relief camps in
Basantitala where cooked food is supplied to nearly 4,000 villagers daily.
Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh, Dr Manmohan Vaidya, visited several relief camps in
the affected areas in Hasnabad block in north 24 Parganas on June 3 and took a stock of
the grim situation prevailing there. (By Ranjit Roy VSK Kolkatta)
THIRD-YEAR SANGH SHIKSHA VARGA CONCLUDES: The only prescription
for all the ills confronting the nation today lies in the philosophy of Hindutva. It is the
bedrock of our national and social life. It connotes the way of life and encompasses all
the faiths and languages in Bharat, asserted Shri Mohan Bhagwat, Sarsanghachalak of
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Speaking at the concluding function of the third-year Sangh Shiksha Varga at the
sprawling Reshimbag grounds in Nagpur, Shri Bhagwat made a passionate appeal to all
the people to join RSS in order to know and understand the organization. Our doors are
open for all, he said.
Former Supreme Court judge Justice KT Thomas, who could not make it to the
concluding function due to personal reasons, strongly advocated the need for bringing
uniform civil code. He was all praise for the wonderful work the RSS is doing. I have
more admiration for the activities of RSS than criticism, unlike some other members of

the minority communities who entertain prejudices towards this organisation, he said.
A total of 936 shiksharthis took part in the varga where Shri Suryaprakash Tonk was
Sarvadhikari and Madhav Vidwans Varg Karyavaha.
BHARATIYA ARRIVAL DAY IN GRENADA: The Indo-Grenadian Heritage
Foundation held a Memorial and Thanksgiving Service on May 1st at the Samaritan
Presbyterian Church to mark the arrival of the first batch of Bharatiyas to Grenada on 1st
May, 1857.
On that date, the Maidstone landed 287 persons at Irwins Bay, St. Patricks. This was the
first of several ships bringing a total of 3,200 indentured workers from Bharat to
Grenada, the seeds of todays large Indo-Grenadian community.
CYCLONE AILA - APPEAL FOR RELIEF -2009: CYCLONE AILA which hit
the coast of West Bengal on the 25th of May 2009, has caused massive devastation and
displacement for over a million people and about 250 deaths. SEWA INTERNATIONAL
(India) has started relief activities from the evening of 26th May in partnership with likeminded organizations such as Bastuhara Sahayata Samiti, Sewa Bharati, Friends of Tribal
Society, Bharat Sevashram and Sri Ramkrishna Mission. At present there are 32 relief
centers in remote villages catering to the needs of over 8000 families constituting over
30,000 people. The activities undertaken are distributing cooked meal, supply of dry
ration and potable water and treatment for epidemics and other diseases.
There is an urgent need to provide relief to the suffering millions. SEWA
INTERNATIONAL appeals to all to help these unfortunate victims.
Sewa International (India) plans to run these 32 relief centers and increase more such
centers if needed and continue the relief activities till life returns to normal. SI intends to
provide the affected families with immediate necessities for daily living: tarpaulins, food,
cloths, medicines etc. The estimated expense will be approximately $220,000.

DEFEAT OF BJP IS NOT REJECTION OF HINDUTVA IDEOLOGY: The results
of the just concluded Lok Sabha elections are unexpected to all, said Dr. Manmohan
Vaidya, Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh of RSS in Nagpur on May 19. He was
interacting with the media persons at Reshimbag premises where the third year RSS
Sangh Shiksha Varga is underway. Talking informally, Dr. Vaidya said the people seem to
have voted for a stable government and this is a welcome sign for the democracy. He
said, with one national party getting a near majority, the regional parties have lost their
bargaining and nuisance value. Both the Congress and the BJP, the two main national
parties scored over 350 seats out of the 543, is a good omen for the survival of democracy
in Bharat, he said.
He expressed concern over the low percentage of voting while replying to a question on
appeal by the RSS Sarsanghchalak to the people to vote in the election and his
exhortation to the swayamsevaks to ensure 100 per cent voting in the elections. Dr.
Vaidya said the reluctance of people to vote is serious and dangerous for the democracy.
Defeat of BJP should not be construed as rejection of Hindutva ideology by the voters,
Dr. Vaidya said in reply to a question. Various regional and other local factors work
during the elections and all they have a cumulative effect on the results.

NCYCLOPAEDIA BRITANNICA WILL REVIEW ITS HINDUISM ARTICLE: In

response to a letter by Amit Raj Dhawan, an electrical engineer by profession,
Encyclopedia Britannica has agreed to revise its article on Hinduism. In his expose,
Dhawan wrote, Britannica has misrepresented the concept and message of Hinduism,
and Hindu values have been disparaged. The articles on Christianity, Islam, and Judaism
have been written in a very good sense, and the evils of these religions have been
subjugated by the way of presentation of those themes. It seems that the ambition of
Encyclopaedia Britannica is to show Hinduism inferior to Christianity, Islam, and
Judaism.
Britannicas Senior Editor of Philosophy and Religion, Brian Duignan said that We
agree that the article is in need of revision. We are working now to identify a Hindu
scholar to lead that revision. The revision will take some time.
THIRD-YEAR SANGH SHIKSHA VARGA BEGINS IN NAGPUR: 936
swayamsevaks drawn from various parts of the country have been currently undergoing
the rigorous physical and ideological training at the regular third-year Sangh Shiksha
Varga (RSS training camp) at Reshimbag since May 10, 2009. This month-long training
camp, began in the scorching summer heat of Nagpur, is being attended by RSS
volunteers between the age groups of 18 and 40. There are six swayamsevaks from Nepal
and one from the United Kingdom.
Besides this, there will be 50 first-year and 13 second-year training camps throughout the
country this year.
The camp will be concluded on June 8, 2009 in the presence of Sarsanghachalak Shri
Mohan Bhagwat. Former Judge of Supreme Court from Kerala Justice KT Thomas will
be the chief guest at the concluding ceremony.
VETERAN PRACHARAK VISHNU KUMAR PASSES AWAY: THE MAN
BEHIND RSS SERVICE ACTIVITIES: Veteran Sangh Pracharak Vishnu Kumar who
practically materialized the service concept of RSS in Delhi, passed away on May 25. He
was 76. he was unwell for the last few months.
Born on May 5, 1933 at Chikvallapuram Nagar, near Bengaluru, in Karnataka, Vishnuji
was the youngest among the six siblings. He became a swayamsevask in his childhood
and became a Pracharak after completing his BE mechanical in 1962. He mostly worked
in Aligarh, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur, Kashi, Kanpur, Delhi and Bhopal. He worked with Shri
Ashok Singhal during the emergency. He was popular as 'Masterji' during the Emergency
in Kanpur. He also played a key role in the satyagrah. He came to Delhi in 1978 to look
after the responsibility of Praudh Shakhas. But later he fully devoted himself to the cause
of service activities, carried out under the banner of Sewa Bharati after the call of the
then Sarsanghchalak Shri Bala Saheb Deoras. He was shifted to Bhopal in 1995 where
too he expanded the Sewa Bharati work even in the remote areas of the region. Today,
there are six Matrichhaya Kendras, 21 hostels and thousands of Ekal Vidyalas in Madhya
Kshetra alone and all this has been possible due to the tireless efforts of Vishnuji.
Vishnuji had developed a live and close contact with the workers, teachers and students
joining the sewa projects. There are more than 1000 youth in Delhi alone who had been
moulded by Vishnuji as their guardian. These youth are now working in different

professional groups and companies as successful professionals. Sewa Bharati today runs
more than 2200 service projects in Delhi alone. Vishnuji had formally founded the
organisation in May 1979 with the inauguration of a Samskar Kendra By Bala Saheb
Deoras.
