Anatomical impression material

We supply premium quality medium viscosity, addition-curing impression materials specifically for
taking anatomical impressions (opposing jaw impressions, temporary crowns/bridges, fabrication
of splints etc.). These materials are an ideal complement to precision impression-taking using
A-silicones due to their elastomeric properties (optimal elastic recovery, high dimensional stability).
They are also easy to use, clean and efficient when used in combination with the Plug & Press
system. Simply intelligent.

Silginat
Anatomical impression material with low tear resistance and high dimensional stability as
flavoured and unflavoured version.

Silginat

The new standard for opposing jaw

impressions
Medium viscosity, addition-curing, elastomeric anatomical impression material based on
vinyl polysiloxane.
Modern A-silicones now ensure an optimal impression when taking precision
impressions and bite registrations. Why dispense with the convenience and quality of an
A-silicone when taking opposing jaw impressions?
Silginat has been specially developed for taking impressions of the opposing jaw, temporary
crowns and bridges and fabricating splints and incorporates the advantages of A-silicones
and alginates: it combines low tear resistance with high dimensional stability and is easy
to use, clean and efficient when used in conjunction with the Sympress dispenser or the
cartridge system.
Optimal elastic recovery
Elastic recovery of a modern A-silicone; the ideal complement to precision impressiontaking.
High dimensional stability
The impression can be stored for several weeks; allows renewed, even multiple
pouring, e.g. in the case of fracture or loss of temporary restorations.

Precision impression material | Page 15

Precision impression material

A precision impression is the fundamental link between the dental office and dental laboratory. It is
very important because a precision impression contains the only information about the preparation
and dentition that can be passed to the dental technician. The performance of the impression
material therefore becomes the most important criterion next to the professional skill of the
dentist. This is why we have made quality the guiding principle for development and production
at Kettenbach. Choose from our portfolio of first-class impression materials and count on our
experience gained over 65 years.

Vinylsiloxanether (VSXE)
Vinylsiloxanether combines the advantages of the two most tried and tested materials in a
single product (A-silicone and polyether).
Vinyl polysiloxane (VPS)
Modern impression materials based on A-silicone.
Polysiloxane (PS)
Impression materials based on C-silicone (condensation-curing silicones) from the Lastic range.

Removal force (N)

260

Pronounced undercuts on the tooth or alveolar

ridge can cause considerable problems when
removing the impression. It may also result in
damage to the stone model in the dental laboratory, particularly with slender prepared teeth.
Panasil Putty Soft exhibited the lowest removal
force of the materials involved in this test with
a value of 159.4 N. The lowest mean removal
force was measured for the material combination of Panasil Putty Soft and Panasil initial
contact Light.

Precision impression material (vinyl polysiloxane)

The Panasil initial contact X-Light Advantages and Benefits

Product Advantages

Benefits to the Practitioner

Exceptional initial hydrophilicity

Initial hydrophilicity lasts throughout the total

working time

Increasing hydrophilicity

Good flowability with high thixotropy

User/patient-friendly setting characteristics

n The material immediately overcomes the residual

moisture and directly contacts the moist tooth surface; the impression reproduces the crisp detail of
the preparation margin even with residual moisture
present.
n Guarantee of a precise impression even at the end of
the total working time. Good results regardless of the
time of the application stage.
n Clinical conditions (moist oral cavity) further improve
the initial hydrophilicity.
n The material flows into narrow crevices when pressure is
applied and does not drip from the tooth into the oral cavity.
n Relaxed, careful impression-taking due to an adequately long total working time: more comfortable for the
patient and greater satisfaction.

Contact angles

QR-Code

The contact angle measurement is the parameter for testing a materials hydrophilicity, describing how an impression
material handels a moist tooth surface. To measure contact angles, a water droplet is applied to the materials surface. The angle of the droplet parallel to the materials surface is observed and recorded.
If the droplets angle rapidly flattens out onto the material, then the material has excellent hydrophilicity meaning it
can overcome any residual moisture remaining on the tooth, even in extreme conditions.

Positional stability: Panasil contact plus XLight remains where it is applied due to its
positional stability. This prevents the material
flowing from the impression site. The thixotropic behavior, however, ensures good flowability
when pressure is applied.

Rheology (the study of flow): Rheological

measurements can be used to plot the chronological progress from the plastic phase to the
elastic phase. The steep incline clearly indicates
the short curing phase, as occurs with Panasil

Bite registration
A-silicones have become established as bite registration materials in the modern dental office.
Apart from the elastomeric properties and easy handling, the final hardness of the material and
setting characteristics that match the indication are essential for producing precise results. The
Futar range encompasses 6 products. Select the appropriate final hardness and working time for
your requirements and you will be impressed by the optimal precision and convenience, like many
other users. Futar has been the market leader in Germany for more than 16 years (according to
GfK [German Society for Consumer Research]). Simply intelligent.
