Anna Garcia Case Report

At 9:45 August 14, Anytown USA, the police were called concerning suspicious
behavior of a neighbor. Anna Garcia, 38, was unresponsive to her door and was last
seen at 6:30pm the night before. The neighbor who called 911 had mentioned that Anna
was wearing a sweater in a heat wave while walking her dog earlier in the 92 degree
weather but inside her house it was 73 degrees. The police arrived on scene at 9:56
and found Anna face down in a pool of blood in her entry hallway. People close to Anna
were interviewed and the persons of interest at this time are: Alex Garcia, Doug Greene,
Erica Piedmont, and Lucy Leffingwell. Police examined and searched the scene while
collecting evidence for further testing.
Many intricate and complex tests were run on the evidence collecting from the
scene at Anna Garcias house. The pills found at the scene were analyzed and
determined to be Acetylsalicylic Acid aka aspirin. The blood found on the scene was B
positive which could either be Alex or Anna Garcias but can only be determined with
further testing of their DNA. The hair was examined under a microscope and the cuticle
was thick and light colored with a dark, thinner end, the medulla was also fragmented, it
was determined to be Anna Garcias. The fingerprints found on scene were compared to
those of the persons of interest, Anna Garcia, and others to determine whom it
belonged to. 12 minutiae were found common between the print at the scene and Alex
Garcia, allowing the investigators to determine that it was his. The shoeprint at the
scene was compared to those of the persons of interest and was determined to be
Annas. Annas body was examined at the scene and her rectal temperature was taken.
By using the equation to find the time of death it is concluded that Anna died at
approximately 7am. The blood splatter droplets were also analyzed. The analysists
determined that the blood fell from a 90 degree angle from between 25 -75cm. The
DNA of the persons of interest was run through the Gel Electrophoresis and it was
determined to be Annas. An autopsy was performed by the medical examiner of
Anytown and the report sent back included the following information: external exam,
internal exam, lab results, and manner of death. Her toxicology report came back clean
with only minute traces of aspirin. The external exam showed that she was a healthy 38
year old women who had no post mortem tampering and rigor mortis is generalized. Her
clothes are stained with blood and a small amount of vomit on shoulder. There is an
injury to her right temple which included an open would where pre-mortem bruising is

inflamed injection site on her thigh (left). Her head wound is 2cm in length and 5cm in
