(NYGP)
The NES International Youth Green Parliament (NYGP) is a novel
endeavour targeted at furthering youth awareness with respect to
environmental issues that plague the country today. Furthermore,
it's a step towards ensuring active and empathetic action
suggested by school students while representing different
statesand agencies in India while discussing environmental issues
in a national forum.
To ensure that the actions taken by the students will be acted
upon not only in this simulation but also on a national scale by
Indian authorities, all communiques passed in NYGP will be
forwarded to the concerned environmental organizations at a
national and international level for them to further discuss the
possible solutions. These communiqus will be designed by the
moderator based on the presentations of all delegates
The simulation of a Green Parliament by NES International School,
Mumbai is unique and unprecedented in the field of simulations of
national and world committees and is sure to be an undertaking
which every student must participate in to broaden their outlooks,
expand their horizons and most importantly, to be an active
participant in solving world issues and contributing towards
environmental betterment.

Format
The format of the NES International Youth Green Parliament
(NYGP) is very simple and easy to follow in addition to ensuring an
opportunity for equal participation from every delegate
representing every state/agency irrespective of its size or
influence on world affairs. The format is as follows: The NYGP will be a forum which shall comprise of two
participants each from every school who will be discussing an
agenda on the floor. E.g. Constructive Actions to Reduce the
Impact of Electronic Waste on the Environment

Two participants (delegates) from each school will represent one


of 10 Indian states or agencies in NYGP (Maharashtra, Gujarat,
Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Tamilnadu, Madhya
Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka). The
participants will have to come well researched on the agenda as
well as the stance of the Indian State that they will represent. All
participants must note that they will be representing the opinion
of the Indian State/Agency that they represent and do not have
to debate with respect to their own personal opinion on the issue
on the floor.
Every delegation representing one of the ten Indian
State/Agencies will have to make a presentation on the policies
of their country with respect to the agenda (global warming,
carbon credits etc) which they will have to present for a period
of a maximum of 5 minutes. The presentation must include the
following
Introduction about carbon emission (2 slides)

Introduction about carbon emission in relation to your state


(2 slides)

Causes of carbon emission specific to your state (2 slides)

Effects of carbon emission on your state (2 slides)

Proposed solutions that are implementable in your state (2


slides)

Conclusion (1 slide)
The presentation can be a PPT or flash presentation.
At the end of the presentations, students of all the other
delegations will receive 2 minutes to raise questions in relation
to the contents of the presentation which will have to be
answered by the delegation giving the presentation. The
questions must strictly be related to the contents of the
presentation.
Each delegation will have to give a presentation followed by
questions from members of the other delegations. This
procedure will be followed until all the ten delegations have
given their presentations.
The entire session will be presided over by a moderator who is
also free to raise questions to the participants if deemed
necessary.

The delegations participating in the NYGP will be judged by


experienced and eminent personalities who will judge
delegations on the following parameters: Content and extent of research (10 marks)
Oratory skills (5 marks)
Presentation (10 marks)
Solutions as suggested (10 marks)
Equal participation of both delegates (5 marks)
Questions posed to other delegations (10 marks)

The best delegation, runners' up and consolation prize will


be decided on this basis.

Rules and Regulations


The discretion of the Moderator on committee proceedings
will be final.
All delegates will have to come dressed in formals.
There will be negative marking for exceeding time limits.
No delegate will be allowed to access the Internet during
committee proceedings.
No teachers, guardians will be allowed to assist their
delegates during proceedings.
No delegate must violate the basic rules and regulations of
the host school.
Each school is allowed to send more than one delegation.
However, negative marking shall be given if the different
delegations are seen furthering each other's prospects in a
manner not deemed to be fair.
