Instructions for Research Proposals

Instructions
- This report must be submitted by the students by September 28th of 2016.
- You must use the information required in the tutorial for the Introduction and Research
Problem sections.
- Remember that this may be the initial version of the first sections of your final research
proposal.
- You will be graded on a scale from 1,0 to 7,0, according to the rubric attached and receive
your grade 1 week after you submit your report.
- Each section will be graded individually. Thus, there will be no extra points given for
originality between one section and the other. Often, consistency is more important than
originality within one document. However, you may not use exactly the same wording for
sentences in different sections.

Formal Requirements
Times New Roman with fontsize 12, 1,5 leading (interline spacing).
Bold may be used for section titles
Italics may only be used for words written in a language other than English.
Quotation marks may only be used for literal quotes taken from other sources.
For all other formal elements, you must follow the MLA formatting manual

CONTENTS AND EXTENSION

Your Research Proposal should have the following elements:

I.- Title
II.- Information on the author and class according to MLA style requirements
III.- Introduction: Must include all information asked in the questions of the Tutorial, as
well as the requirements of the rubric. Introduction must have an extension of at least half a

page. All decisions made by you may be written in the first person I. All facts and
factual statements must be supported by at least one bibliography source. You should
support your own views and opinions with validated sources (such as academic journals
that have peer reviews and news media with editorial boards) bibliography.

VI.- Research Problem: Must have an extension of at least 1 page. It should include all
information required by the rubric and the answers to the questions and sections mentioned
in the Tutorial. You may put more emphasis in the parts that you find more relevant. Above
all, you should clearly state the relevance of your proposal, your research question and your
research goals, both general and specific. As in the introduction, all decisions made by you
may be written in the first person I. All facts and factual statements must be supported
by at least one bibliography source. You should support your own views and opinions with
validated sources (such as academic journals that have peer reviews and newsmedia with
editorial boards) bibliography.

VII.- Applied Research Chart: It must be the included after the research problem and it
must be completed with information that is highly related to what you have written in the
previous sections. Remember to follow the instructions of the tutorial.

VIII.- Initial Bibliography: You must include at least 5 sources consulted. To include
your sources in this section, you must use the MLA format.
