The condition of the substrate, its nature and preparation are essential factors for the success of
the coating.
The concrete substrate must be strong, clean, dry and coherent.
resistance to direct tension 1.5 MPa.
resistance to compression 25 MPa.
water content 4.5%.
The substrate must be prepared by mechanical stripping (shot-blasting, sanding, planing, etc.)
then its dedust using an industrial vaccum cleaner.
Note: for further information on substrates and their preparation, refer to our documentation
Preparation technique and characteristics of substrates.

Filler coat
After mixing the two components, add the sand HN 38 (0,05/0,25) and stir well, then apply the
mixture with a rubber squeegee.
Self-levelling undercoat
After mixing the two components, add the sand graded 0.1 0.4 mm and stir well, then apply
the mixture with a notched squeegee followed by overlapping diagonal strokes with an antibubble roller with spikes.
Mortar
After mixing the two components, make up the mortar by pouring the mixture A+B then the
BR18 filler into a type BEBA mixer, spread the mortar with a rake or rule, smooth initially with
a trowel, then smooth either by hand or with a rotary trowel.

Benefits
Provides a low gloss, protective layer on most smooth and water resistant,
hard floors
Good resistance to scuff marks and dirt, even under heavy traffic levels

1. Please refer to ERI 288 all floor access panels have been identified and agreed with ASO at workshops. No updated IFC drawings will be issued as it was agreed at
the workshops that the adjustment of the MEP services and coordination with access panels will be done on the shop drawings. BH will be available to assist with any
technical queries and attend any workshops that are necessary/required by ASO/DSS. Refer to TUR-INF-010482 dated 14th May 2015
2. Display cases are fixed to frames and embedded in the resin floor. Raised floor is designed to support 10KN/m. MGE to define what uplift forces apply. This is part of
ASO-MGE coordination
3. Jet cut aluminium meridian lines and jet cut bronze letters are fixed with glue or silver brazing into a "stencil" laser cut or jet cut metal sheet to provide correct alignment
of lines and letters.
Jet cut bronze graphic coast lines are fixed with glue or silver brazing on a metal sheet to provide stability.
4. As per manufacturer's recommendations, correct dimension is 30 mm but contractor should confirm dimension as per sub-contractor's recommendations.
5. Servazzo RAL 9003
6. Confirmed- resin skirting is included
7. As per specified product Technical Data Sheets, Servazzo complies with requested durability. See extract below:
Contractor to clarify his statment that selected flooring does not provide enough assurance for a long term life.
8. Clear color: Resin / Brown color: Stone / Light blue color: Stone / Dark blue color: Stone / Red color: Stone. Stone samples to be provided by contractor for architects
final approval.

The Care of
Terrazzo

TERRAZZO FLOORS
OWNERS GUIDE FOR THE SUGGESTED
MAINTENANCE OF TERRAZZO
CUSTODIANS GUIDE TO THE PROPER
MAINTENANCE OF TERRAZZO
DOS FOR TERRAZZO FLOOR CARE
Terrazzo floors have ease of maintenance, but this does not mean that NO CARE IS
REQUIRED. Once you understand the care requirements in the early stages of a new
terrazzo floor, you lessen possible problems, and recognize the economy of care and the
aesthetic values of this product. NTMA terrazzo flooring specifications highly
recommends a sealer applied to this surface immediately following the final polishing.
Sealers help inhibit the penetration of spilled materials upon initial contact with the terrazzo
floor. Spills must be cleaned up immediately in order to prevent stains caused by repeated or
long term exposure. Even standing water can eventually dissolve some sealers.
As most sealers are low solids liquid material, they do not normally produce a high gloss
sheen appearance to the floor surface. When a building is eventually occupied, the terrazzo
temporary sealer can be stripped and the surface may be retreated as implemented by
ownership. The eventual degree of gloss is determined by the particular products selected
and the recommended application process.

Green Terrazzo
The Environmental Impact of the Use of
Cement and Epoxy Terrazzo
Terrazzo
Durability
Sustainable construction is at the core of green construction. Terrazzo floors have an outstanding record of durability and performance dating back over a thousand years. The
floors will typically last the life of the structure. In many
older buildings, the floors can be restored to their original
luster at a fraction of the cost of replacing the finish.
Both cement and thin set epoxy terrazzo floors have
extremely low maintenance costs. Annual stripping and
resealing can utilize environmentally friendly water-based
products. Routine maintenance includes dry and damp
mopping, with an occasional spray buffing. In comparison,
carpet requires energy intensive daily vacuuming and periodic steam cleaning.
Recycle/Reuse Content
Regional Sourcing
Terrazzo has long been valued for its life cycle characteristics: low maintenance, durability, and indoor air
quality - with recycled content being an additional attractive
feature. Terrazzo flooring can contribute to the achievement
of project LEED certification goals. The project LEED
Consultant will identify which credits are included in the
project sustainability goals. Refer to the NTMA website for
the analysis based on the 2009 Edition of the LEED Green
Building System for Green Building Design and Construction identifies the credits for which terrazzo may contribute..
National Terrazzo and Mosaic Association, Inc.
Points may be awarded be re-using a portion of existing nonstructural elements, including floors. Terrazzo floors typically
last the life of the structure. As such, in many renovation projects, the original terrazzo flooring can be restored to its original
luster following some inexpensive repairs and refinishing. The
ability to preserve the floor intact rather than replacing it will cut
costs and contribute towards this LEED credit.
Points may be awarded by recycling or salvaging nonhazardous construction and demolition debris. In projects that require
demolition of an existing structure with terrazzo flooring, terrazzo components may be salvaged for reuse or recycled. A
qualified terrazzo contractor can assist with component recovery.
If terrazzo flooring is to be used in the new construction, the salvaged aggregate can even potentially be used in the new flooring.
Points may be awarded for using materials with recycled content. Terrazzo allows for easy incorporation of recycled glass,
as well as stone or marble that has been salvaged from other
buildings and re-crushed and sieved for use in terrazzo. A floor
incorporating 100 percent recycled glass aggregate could contain
as much as 75 percent recycled raw material by volume. Aluminum strips may also contain recycled metal.
Points may be awarded if a portion of the project building materials are extracted, harvested or recovered, as well as manufactured within a 500-mile radius of the project. The calculation is
based on the cost of raw materials. Marble chips, glass aggregate, as well as cement and epoxy binders are available throughout many areas of the United States. Terrazzo can contribute to
points if raw material suppliers are located within 500 miles of
the project site.
The following chart is a representation of the four LEED programs LEED 2009 for New Construction and Major Renovations,
