TEACHERS ACTIVITY

Who can recall our previous discussion?

STUDENTS ACTIVITY

Our previous topic was about the story

Makato and the Cowrie Shell.
What are the important lessons that the
story taught us?

Exactly. With patience, determination or

perseverance anything is possible.

The important lesson that the story taught

us is to become patient and determined in
achieving your goal.

What else?

Very good! Along with being patient and

determined, you are to face a lot of
difficulties that you cannot avoid. In like
manner, take your ladder with you, your
goals in each step that you take. Soar
high and keep on dreaming.

In achieving your success, you cannot get

rid of struggles or failures. It takes a lot of
time. In short, there is no shortcut
towards success.

I hope class that you always take with

you everything that you have learned
from the story of Makato.
2) Motivation
Before we proceed to our lesson, I want
you first to answer this.

Yes Maam

Do you know the game 4 Pics 1 Word?

Maam you are going to guess the term

that is common to all the four pictures.

Okay, how do you play that game?

Very good, that is what you are going to

do, I will present four pictures and tell
me what is common among these four.

- - - Maam the answer is EGYPT!

Maam because of the pyramid!

Very good!
What made
answer?

you

come

up

to

that

The pyramid, what about that pyramid?

Based on what I learned in our subject

Araling Panlipunan, the pyramid serves as
home and tomb of the Egyptians.
Maam Cleopatra and the flag of Egypt.
Cleopatra was one among the few women
pharaoh who ruled Egypt.

Very good! What else?

Who is Cleopatra?

What about the third photo? What is

that?
What is sphinx?

Yes, where it symbolizes highness or

greatness.
Alright. Do you know what is the
connection of this in our lesson for

Maam it is the sphinx.

Sphinx serves as the tombs guard. Its
structure is half lion and half pharaoh.

today?
3) Presentation of the Topic
Today, we will tour around Egypt to find
out or to learn about their culture and
traditions. To do this, let us watch a
video.

4) Discussion
While watching the video, you are going
to answer these following questions.
Read in unison.
1. What country is described in the film?
2. What knowledge and information did
you get after watching/ observing?
3. Describe what you see, feel, hear
and/or touch.
4. What attracted you most about this
country? Do you think you have common
interests, culture, or similar customs and
traditions?
5. What make Egyptians different from
Filipinos? Cite at least 2 differences.

Maam the video is entertaining and it

gives us significant information about
Egypt.

Take down important information that

will be presented in the video.
(Student watch the video/s regarding
Egypt)
Maam Egypt.
What can you say on the video class?
Egypt belongs to the continent of Africa.

Yes, and what are those significant

information? Let us find out by
answering the questions you have read a
while ago.
What country is described in the film?

Alright, what
belong?

continent

does

Egypt

Very good.
Do you know class that 90% of Egypt
consists of desserts areas? Moreover,
these desserts were divided by two
because of the Nile river. With this kind
of areas, you would imagine their kind of
living.

I learned about their culture Maam.

I learned that inside the pyramid, there

are levels were you can identify the
economic status of the Egyptians. At the
top, their lives the pharaoh while at the
very bottom their lives the slaves.

What knowledge and information did you

get after watching/ observing?
What for example?
Maam the pharaoh.
The pharaoh serves as the king, they are
worshiped as gods.

Very good, during the ancient time of

Egypt, the Egyptians organized their
social life like a big pyramid. Wherein,
different groups of people have different
importance and of course who is
expected to live at the top?
What is the role of the pharaoh?

It says there from the video that they are

responsible in controlling the economy,
give orders; they even take responsibility
on the flooding of the Nile and the
movement of the planets.

Exactly! But do not think that because of

being a king his/her life would be easy
because they have many responsibilities.
Like for example, can you give some?
What other information have you
learned?

You see? The life of pharaoh is not that

simple, but despite all these, he/she is
the richest of all. And when pharaohs
die, they have the most grandiose
ceremony or rituals. What comes along
with the pharaoh?
Very good, and the reason is?

When the pharaoh dies, people bring

along with him his wealth and treasures.
Because they believe in afterlife where
they could use these treasures to live
there forever.

The Nile river.

Correct! What other information did you
learn from the video?
What about that Nile river?

The Nile river became their main source of

living because it fertilizes the land when it
floods where people could plant and
harvest foods for living.

Very good. Aside from that, the Nile

river
becomes
their
means
of
transportation since it is the longest
river in the world it could reach different
parts of neighboring countries or places.
Alright let us move on to the next
question. What attracted you most about
this country?

I was attracted most on how the country

was built. I mean how they were able to
find ways in order to live and their ancient
beliefs.

Okay. We have discussed a while ago on

how they were able to make living and
that is through the Nile river.
Last question, what make Egyptians
different from Filipinos?

Egyptians is indeed far different from us

Filipinos especially when it comes to
culture basis.

Of course Egyptians differ from Filipino

as to culture and traditions. There would
be some practices here in the Philippines
that are being practiced by the
Egyptians just like their belief in gods or
deities. Filipinos have strong belief on
that before and even today there were
those who still live with that kind of
practice.
That ends our topic on discovering
Egypt. Do you have any question?
