Visual Art 2
Mission: Providing all students the skills to be responsible, productive citizens who are
College and Career Ready.
Vision: Iroquois High School will provide a high quality education that prepares
students to be responsible citizens who will choose a post-secondary education or a
career after graduation. We will expand our students horizons through a variety of
social, cultural, and educational experiences.

Course Description
Visual Art 2 serves as a progressive course for students interested in continuing their
study in visual art. This course is a study of the elements of art and principles of design
and how they relate to various two-dimensional and three-dimensional media. Students
will receive instruction in the following studio areasdesign, drawing, painting, mixed
media, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, and textileswhich will build art skills
developed in previous years. This course will provide experiences to increase student
knowledge and ability through art history, analysis of form, aesthetics, cultural heritage,
and art production. The student will be introduced to career opportunities in the visual
arts.
Students in this class have made a commitment to the study of art and are expected to
maintain a professional attitude at all times. All students will be involved in long-term art
projects throughout the course of the year. Grades will be based on a students
individual progress, assignment requirements, and established teacher expectations.
Active participation in critiques, reading assignments, written assignments, and
sketchbook assignments will all be required for this class.
