Service with a smile!

Two of the hardest working girls one could find on

a Friday night was in the Hinsdale School cafeteria
where these little cuties were in charge of selling
concessions for the North Country Mavericks and
Scobey Spartans fans. The Mavericks next home
game will be in Saco this Friday night as they face
the Lustre Christian Lions for some key District 3C
games. There will be a Mavericks Booster meeting

after the boys varsity game in the Saco School

Library. All parents and community members from
Hinsdale, Saco and Whitewater are urged to attend.
The discussion of Maverick Boosters will include
the organization of the club, fund-raising ideas and
meals.
And we can only wonder if the Tooth Fairy has been
making the rounds in Hinsdale...

Well, its about time!!!

JR Rasmusan stopped in and was excited that the

movies at Valley Cinemas are finally changing on Friday
after Rogue One and Sing have been here for what seems
like forever.
One of the movies is about a spaceship, and one of
them is set in the 15th century. So if youd like to go back
to the future, or whichever way, you may want to take
them both in.

Local wrestlers have good showing in Omaha

round bye, Dylan Nieskens easily won his
quarterfinal and semifinal matches by major
decision and pin to land in the first place
match. He would then lose a hard-fought 7-4
decision and would place 2nd by rule over
his MWC Wreslting Academy opponent.

We had five Glasgow Highlanders

competing at the Winter Nationals in
Omaha, Nebraska this past weekend,
and they fared quite well as all of them
won some matches. And four of the five
placed nationally, two of them earning Schoolboy HWT Cooper Larson won his
second place!
first two matches, lost his semifinal match
Schoolboy 115 pounds Colton Fast
won his first three matches to land in the
championship match. He would lose that
one to a kid from Kansas but would bounce
back in the 2nd place match with a pin and
2nd place.
Novice 120 Kyler Hallock received a firstround bye and then won his first two matches
to make it to the quarterfinals before losing
out in his next two.
School Boy 180 After receiving a first
round bye, Tel Aune would lose his first
match but would pin his next two opponents
to land in the consolation semifinal. Hed
lose that one but in the 5th place match
would stick his Dirty Eagles Wrestling Club
opponent in 2:43.
Schoolboy

Receiving

first

in a tight 5-2 decision, won the consolation

semifinal, and was wrestling for 3rd place but
got pinned. But in Coopers three victories,
they were all pins with a combined total time
of just three minutes and thirty seconds.

Schoolboy HWT Ty Kittleson

received a 1st round bye, pinned his
first opponent in 0:58, but would lose his
next three matches, his final one a tight
6-5 decision, to place 6th.

All five of these Highlanders are 8th

graders, so the future is looking bright as
they transition into Scotty uniforms next
season! The Glasgow Wrestling Club will
be in Miles City for the first area youth
tournament of the year.

Facts, Numbers, Opinions

I thought that my 2016 year in review and follow
up article The Good, Bad, Ugly describing the St.
Marie happenings would hold folks til I get back
from the winter down south. But Ive been prodded
by some due to their reactions to these articles,
to expand and disclose more data. Additionally a
firestorm created by an internet ad prompted more
attention. Units 186 A/B are for sale by owner for
$95,000.
HISTORY- As ruled by many Judges, NVCCA
(North Valley County Condo Assoc) was illegal
back then and is deemed illegal now. During that
time subsequent to inception, a Flim Flam Man, or
Scallywag as described opinion by some, filled his
pockets ILLEGALLY. As President and Manager of
NVCCA he bought 40 NVCCA units for $1, wrote
himself contracts ($4,000 per month to manage), then
resigned positions and filed ILLEGAL LIENS against
NVCCA. He ended up ILLEGALLY taking what
money and properties NVCCA had. Duplex condo
186 was a property taken by this modern day snake oil
salesman scoundrel. These name tags were the opinion
of many bill paying locals watching this activity.
EXTORTION? Using a position of power to
fill ones own pockets in not merely malfeasance,
especially if its done with a fictitious non legal
business entity. One Judge named this person and
described him as using many Front Corporations.
A 100-150 years ago a Hooligan Hawker with a Shell
Game Hustle would have either been shot or hung.
CAUTIONS- As I suggested in my last article,
conduct an abstract or preliminary title search on
any St. Marie property you may be interested in
purchasing. Would perhaps one find a Dirty or
Illegal Title? Or a CLOUDED TITLE with tax,
water, association, attorney, or mechanics LIENS?
These services are provided to these investor/
developer properties and sadly never paid for, for
years. Caveat Emtor.
CLOSING- Hope this writing satisfies the bill
paying folks.

Flat Top meets with Department of Education Nominee

U.S. Senator and former teacher
Jon Tester earlier this week discussed
the importance of public education
in Montana and rural America with
Betsy DeVos, President-elect Donald
Trumps nominee for U.S. Education
Secretary.
As a former teacher, school
board member, and public school
graduate, I know how important
public education is. Its the basis of
our democracy and it is the reason
why our country has been the leader
of the free world for decades and
decades. The problems facing our
schools are real and we need to make
it clear that we are going to improve
our public school system for the next
generation of leaders of this country,
Tester said. I had a solid meeting
with the Secretary of Education
nominee, but I really think she
needs to familiarize herself with the
challenges not only in our public
school systems in urban America
but especially in rural America. It is
critically important that we have a
leader of our public education system
in this country that understands the
importance of public education and
is ready to buildnot detract
on its ability to educate our next
generation.

Tester solicited input from

Montanans on his website about
what he should ask President-elect
Trumps nominees and received an
overwhelming response from local
teachers and parents about DeVos.
Montanans from all across the state
have expressed concern over Mrs.
DeVoss lack of public education
experience and her history supporting
vouchers.
Tester voiced those
concerns in his meeting with DeVos.
In addition to discussing his
opposition to privatizing public
schools, Tester addressed other topics
that are important across Montana,
including standardized testing, local
control, and the implementation
of the Every Student Succeeds Act
(ESSA).
Standardized Testing A
longtime advocate for testing
reform, Tester grilled DeVos on
the importance of reducing the
testing burden on students and
teachers. Testers Student Testing
Improvement and Accountability
Act would remove the annual testing
requirement under the federal No
Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and
replace it with fewer federal tests.

ESSA, Tester stressed the importance

of carrying out the law the way
Congress intended by shifting
more power back to states and local
school districts. Tester recently held
a roundtable to discuss ESSA and
asked DeVos if she would make sure
local stakeholders have more control
over their schools. Tester included an
amendment to ESSA that requires
the Secretary of Education to receive
input from local stakeholders like
school boards before developing any
new rules or regulations.
Special Education Tester
urged DeVos to work on fully funding
special education, which is a struggle
for cash-strapped rural schools.
He emphasized that the federal
government has a long way to go to
meet its promise to fund 40 percent
of the costs of educating students with
disabilitiesit currently only covers
16 percent of the cost. As a member of
the Appropriations Committee, Tester
has pushed for increased funding
for the Individuals with Disabilities
Education Act (IDEA).
DeVos will appear before
the Health, Education, Labor,
and Pension Committee and
her appointment is subject to
confirmation by the Senate.
