Avian necropsy report sheet

8. History: As described by the owner, the chicken showed the following history:
Earlier: The chicken showed signs of starvation, diarrhea, weight loss.
Later: The chicken showed other abnormalities like twisted neck, drooping wings,
tumorous growth on skin, eye lesions, vision impairment.
Finally: The chicken showed signs of labored breathing , high fever ,progressive leg or
wing paralysis ( a typical leg-paralysis victim will have one leg extended forward and one leg
extended back. A swelling of the sciatic nerve is the cause) and finally resulting in death.
Among the flock of 2500 chickens, 1500 chickens were affected
9. General body condition : Tumourous growth in skin , wings were dropped , Skin around
feather follicles raised and roughened.
10. Post-mortem condition of the carcass: Grey- white foci of neoplastic tissue in liver ,
spleen , kidney , gonads,lungs, Heart and skeletal muscles.

11. External examination


Skin: There were many grey-white tumours and skin was dried up.
Feathers: Many tumour in feather follicle and due to which bare skin was seen at some places
as a result of feather loss.

Wings, legs: Wings were drooped and One leg behind the cloaca and one normal being
in front of cloaca.

Ears:

Eyes were grey and eyelids were normal .


Ears were normal..

Wattles and combs: Wattles and combs were found to be paler than normal(light red) .
Beaks: Beak were found to be normal.
Nostrils:

Nostrils were found to be normal.

Tongue: Tongue were found to be normal


Oral cavity: were found to be normal

Thymus: were found to be normal

Trachea: were found to be normal

Oesophagus: were found to be normal
