Set-up
1. Load Geogebra from Maths programs.
2. Click the cross to hide the left folder window
3. From View menu click off Axes
4. You should now have a blank page
Task 1
1. Use the 2nd option in the circle drop down menu to create a circle of radius
5. (Once selected click in the middle of your page to draw)
2. From the first line menu select 2nd option Segment between 2 points.
Click on centre of circle and circumference.
3. Repeat 2 to make this drawing:
4. Use the first option in the angle menu
to
measure Angle A and Angle B (you do
this by
A
clicking the three points that define
the
angle). You may need to ask for help
to avoid

Task 3
Create this:
What do you notice about angles D and E?
What happens when you move the points?
Which rule helps you realise this must be true?

Copy out the appropriate rule
E
D
Task 4
1. Create a circle and draw 2 radius using the line segment tool.
2. Now use the Perpendicular line tool to draw a line that is perpendicular to
one radius and goes through the point on the circumference where the
radius meets. Repeat for the other radius.
3. Draw a line segment from the centre of the circle to where the tangents
cross.
4. You should now have:
5. Mark angles G, H, I
and J.

Key ideas
The opposite
angles of a
cyclic
quadrilateral
add up to
180o.
The angle
subtended at the
circumference in a
semicircle is a
right angle
Angles in the
same segment
of a circle are
equal.
The
perpendicular
from the centre
to a chord
bisects the
chord.
