Chorus Active Listening Reflection #3

(30 points)
Objective
Students will engage in an Active Listening exercise using recorded professional music
performances. Students will critically analyze and reflect on the personal reaction of their
thoughts, feelings, emotions, and imagination as affected by the music.
Directions
Students will actively listen to several pieces of music of various genres and styles. As they
listen silently to each piece, students will reflect on their thoughts, feelings, emotions, and
imagination as they are affected by the music. Students will then summarize their social and
emotional response to the music (in short, how it made you feel) by writing a brief constructed
response detailing their reaction.
Students will listen to ALL of the selections posted to Edline. Students will then select THREE of
the six pieces and complete an Active Listening reflection for each piece selected. Reflections
can be typed or handwritten. Students must write in complete sentences. No bullet points.
Additional Directions
Since this response is a summary of your personal reaction to the music, please SUPPORT your
reflection with clear and descriptive answers that explain WHY you felt the way you did about
the music. This is your opinion, so there is no WRONG answer but you must support it.
Avoid basic, non-descriptive statements and phrases. For example, I liked it and I hated it
are not supported answers. Saying you liked/disliked something just because is also not
enough. Be DESCRIPTIVE and DETAILED in your response. Points will be deducted if responses
are not supported.

Reflections are DUE Tuesday March 10, 2015.
