These are my top 6 sources I used in my infographic. They are organized by the ones I
used the most and provided the most accurate information for my infographic. The final few are
the sources I took little information from and mostly pictures.

This site is a secondary source as well because it gathers some of its information from reports
done and also provides pictures of the effects of coral bleaching from sources like National
Geographic.
iv.

This site is a secondary source because it is a government website sourcing many different
sources.
b. Tertiary

This site is a tertiary source because it references a secondary source, specifically the
Australian Government.
ii.
https://www.coralcoe.org.au/media-releases/lifeand-death-after-great-barrier-reef-bleaching
This site is a tertiary source because it has images from national geographic and sources
scientists who did the original studies.

In this Abstract, it explains that Global Climate models are foreseeing the spread of coral
bleaching. By using downscaled GCMs to predict the outcomes of many of the world's coral
reefs. It says that by before 2070 less than 75% of the reefs in the world will be dead.
The purpose of this abstract is to take the main points of this article(those being the
projections of GCMs and how they are predicting Annual severe Bleaching) and making it so the
reader can briefly see what is happening with coral bleaching and what this article is about. A
sort of given when reading an abstract is having what the article will entail, showing the largest
points of the article as well as a brief explanation of the results.
Post project Reflection
My understanding of greenhouse gases, combustion of fossil fuels and climate
change goes as follows: when we use fossil fuels to fuel our appliances it releases
greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. When these greenhouse gases are released it
causes the earths temperature to heat up.
The role of scientists and engineers in society is to find problems and create
better solutions. This can be a better way to travel or a more eco friendly way to produce
energy.
Climate change is the main reason ocean acidification is occurring. The higher
amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is getting absorbed by the ocean which is
creating carbonic acid that does not treat coral well. In my knowledge there isnt a way to
stop coral from dying, but a way it could be done (I have no idea how we could do this)
would be to lower the pH in the ocean to a point where coral bleaching isn't occurring.
But to my current knowledge, once the coral reefs die they are dead and that cant be
undone.
