It has been long, but I can sense it again.

After years of despair I feel optimistic about my

nations future. What actually optimism means, the belief that good things will happen in the
future. Now the question arises, why I am optimistic about my nations Future. The purpose of
this speech isnt to argue that Pakistan doesnt have serious problem but to argue that Pakistan
is more than the sum of its problems. Several bright spots are beginning to emerge in the
country but no one is connecting the dots, no one wants to talk about a confluence of positive
economic, geo-political, security and political factors that are setting up Pakistan for success
by firmly nudging us in the right direction.
Pakistan may not be the richest country to live in the 21 st century. It may not be the safest
country to live in the 21 st century. But it may just be the most interesting country to live in the
21st century. In the first 15 years of this century, the Pakistani people have fought for a free
press, establishing an independent judiciary and securing democratic elections, while fighting
enemies determined to defeat the state from inside and out. Today, Pakistans mainstream
discourse is centered on how these freedoms should be used and protected responsibly. The
army, civilian leadership and civil society are steadily taking the battle against the terrorist
groups rather than appearing like sitting ducks.
Another reason is the $150 billion dollar worth CPEC projects that includes highways
construction, power projects, railway transportation system etc. CPEC is a nightmare for
Pakistan that will stronghold Pakistans feet in the region.
The reason I choose to be positive and paint good picture about Pakistan because we cannot
withstand the pressure of solving Pakistans real problems today without genuinely believing
that there is light at the end of this dark tunnel. Lastly for those who believe that Pakistan
future is not optimistic, I ask them who are you and what have you done to my country? If we
cannot imagine a better future for Pakistan, we cannot create it.
