Inside Philippine President Rodrigo Dutertes War on Drugs
The article, Inside Philippine President Rodrigo Dutertes War on Drugs, reported by
Kimberly Dela Cruz and Ramon Royandoyan seeks to address President Rodrigo Duterte about
his campaign to destroy the countrys illegal drug trade by any means necessary.
In the first paragraph, the writer stated that, President, 71-year-old Rodrigo Duterte,
vowed to destroy the countrys illegal drug trade by any means necessary., wherein he failed to
enumerate the ways on how Duterte fight against drug trade to convey clear understanding
regarding his administration on drug campaign.
In paragraph 2, it says that Restituto Castro had always a hard time saying no to his
friends. In contrary, it is clearly written in the second sentence that he purchased drug on behalf
of his friends which only means that he didnt refused to say no to his friends.
The rest were likely killed by vigilantes who may have been inspired by Dutertes worddeaths the authorities say they are investigating., quoted from the article in paragraph 3. It
seems in this group of words that President Duterte had been the reason why certain unlawful
killings happen. The writer failed to show evidences that Duterte inspired vigilantes to kill drug
addicts like stating if there are vigilantes caught and vulgar that Duterte is their master or leader.
In paragraph 5, it is written that, Executing people for nonviolent drug-related offenses,
inside or out the law, is common in this part of the world. Dutertes war eclipses those of his
regional neighbors.. But, it doesnt match at in the order of the President to the policeman which
is to kill any addicts or drug personalities.
President Duterte also accused that he had raped an Australian missionary in Davao,
however, in paragraph 7 it is not mention who she is and was not stated if the issue is true.
Moreover, the writer failed to give evidences that supports his claim that law and order is
just one of many chronic national ailments and to enumerate what are the other chronic national
ailments.
In couples of paragraph in last part of the article in pp.1, it talks about Obama and
Dutertes allegations on drugs and the choicest insult portray by Duterte to Obama. Duterte only
want America to focus in economy alliance and not to his drug campaign.
The author also failed to give reasons why President Duterte threatened declared martial
law and state of lawlessness. Come to think of it was only his way to force the Filipino society to
follow his rules for a better and safer country to live in.
The writer also failed to give the advantages of President Dutertes war on drugs
campaign. Beyond those killings is an advantage of all of us such as decreasing issues on crime,
poverty, building a better and peaceful country.

Though the article lack on giving evidences and additional informations in some
statements written, overall the article is convincing and I agree with their claim that extrajudicial
killings should be stop because it doesnt follow the law in Article III, Section I which states that,
No person shall be deprived of life or property without due process of law, nor shall any person
be denied the equal protection of the laws..
