Gods Word, the Bible is full of promises-promises made to His children whom
He loves. Because God is God, and his very nature is truth, He cannot be
unfaithful to these promises or His purposes. Everything that He has
promised to each of us, we can trust Him to carry out completely.
Remember that these verses are Gods guarantees to you, His child. Through
prayer and practice, these promises can become part of your life, giving you
hope, joy and victory. You can live your life as student appropriating Gods
promises for each day.
Anger
There are times when I get so angry I feel like throwing and smashing things.
How does God want me to respond when I feel angry.?
Galatians 5:22-But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce
this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the
law.
Ephesians 4:26-27-And dont sin by letting anger gain control over you. Dont
let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a mighty
foothold to the devil.
Psalm 37:7-8-Be patient and trust the Lord. Dont let it bother you when all
goes well for those who do sinful things. Dont be angry or furious. Anger can
lead to sin.
James 1:19-20-My dear friends, you should be quick to listen and slow to
speak or to get angry. If you are angry, you cannot do any of the good things
that God wants done.
Proverbs 16:32-He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he
who rules his spirit, than he who captures a city
Anxiety
Im terrified of flunking out of school. How can I deal with my anxiety?
Philippians 4:6-7-Dont fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions
and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns.
Before you know it, a sense of Gods wholeness, everything coming together
for good, will come and settle you down. Its wonderful what happens when
Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

1 Peter 5:7-Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what
happens to you.
Ephesians 3:20-Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us,
he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or
hope.
John 16:33-In me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world

My whole life seems to be falling apart-everything is changing. Can I count


on God to be the stabilizing force in my life?
Psalm 48:14-For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide
even to the end
Deuteronomy 7:9-You know that the Lord your God is the only true God. So
love him and obey his commands, and he will faithfully keep his agreement
with you and your descendants for a thousand generations.
Hebrews 13:8-For Jesus doesnt change-yesterday, today, tomorrow, hes
always totally himself.
Psalm 90:2-You have always been God-long before the mountains were
created, even before you created the earth and the world
Nothing seems easy. Why did God make life such a constant struggle?
Jqmes 1:3-4-Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come
at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced
into the open and shows its true colors. So dont try to get out of anything
prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed,
not deficient in any way.
Hebrews 12:10-11-But God disciplines us for good that we may share in his
holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on,
however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who
have been trained by it.
Hebrews 12:5-6-My son, do not make light of the Lords discipline, and do not
lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.
Isaiah 30:18-Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you
compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him.

Most days I feel as tense as a taut rubber band. Can I count on God to keep
me from snapping apart?
John 14:27-I give you peace, the kind of peace that only I can give. It isnt
like the peace that this world can give. So dont be worried or afraid.
Philippians 4:6-7-Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by
prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the
peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and
your minds in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 29:11-The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his
people with peace.
Psalm 46:1-God is our mighty fortress, already ready to help in times of
trouble.
Worrying often keeps me awake at night. Does God have anything to offer
insomniac like me?
John 14:27-Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you
as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Hebrews 4:9-The promise of arrival and rest is still there for Gods people.
Psalm 3:5-I sleep and wake up refreshed because you, Lord, protect me.
Psalm 127:2-For he grants sleep to those he loves
My parents are separated and Im caught in the middle. Can God help me
deal with this situation without being torn apart?
Deuteronomy 33:12-Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he
shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his
shoulders
Isaiah 41:13-For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to
you, Do not fear, I will help you.
Psalm 27:10-Even if my father and mother should desert me, you will take
care of me.
Psalm 62:1-2-My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.
He alone is my rock and salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken
Authority
My parents, boss, and teachers nag me continually. How does God want me
to respond to authorities in my life?

Ephesians 5:21-Submit to one another out reverence for Christ


Romans 13:1-Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for
there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities
that exist have been established by God
Colossians 3:22-24-Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do
it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity
of heart and reverence for the Lord. Whatever you do, work at it with all your
heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will
receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are
serving.
Hebrews 13:17-Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep
watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their
work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.
The Bible
Whenever I start reading my Bible, I get bored and frustrated. It just doesnt
speak to me. Does God really have anything to say to me in his book?
Romans 15:4-Even if it was written in Scripture long ago, you can be sure its
written for us.
2 Timothy 3:16-17-All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching,
rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God
may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Psalm 119:105,130-Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the
simple.
Jeremiah 15:16-Your words are what sustain me. They bring me great joy and
are my hearts delight, for I bear your name, O Lord God Almighty.
Matthew 4:4-Jesus answered, The Scriptures say: No one can live only on
food. People need every word that God has spoken.
Joshua 1:8-This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you
shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do
according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way
prosperous, and then you will have success.
Some of my teachers tell me that the Bible is just myths. How can I know for
sure that it is truly is Gods word?

2 Timothy 3:16-Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way


or another-showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes,
training us to live Gods way.
2 Peter 1:20-21-Above all, you must understand that no prophecy in
Scripture ever came from the prophets themselves or because they wanted
to prophesy. It was the Holy Spirit who moved the prophets to speak from
God.
John 7:16-17-Jesus answered, My teaching is not my own. IT comes from
Him who sent me. If anyone chooses to do Gods will, e will find out whether
my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.
Bitterness
The person who sits next to me cheats in every exam and then gets high
grades. Will God help me to avoid being bitter about this situation?
1 Timothy 2:1-I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. As you make your
requests, plead for Gods mercy upon them, and give thanks.
Colossians 3:12-14-As Gods chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothed
yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complainant against another,
forgive each other just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also
forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything
together in perfect harmony.
Hebrews 12:14-15-Work at getting along with each other and with God.
Otherwise youll never get so much as a glimpse of God. Make sure no one
gets left out of Gods generosity. Keep a sharp eye out for weeds of bitter
discontent. A thistle or two gone to seed can ruin a whole garden in no time.
I feel as though life has given me a dirty rotten deal. Will God help me
overcome my bitterness?
2 Corinthians 9:8-And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in
all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every
good work.
John 10:10-A thief comes only to rob, kill and destroy. I came so that
everyone would have life, and have in it in its fullest.
Psalm 103:2-6-With all my heart I praise the Lord! I will never forget how kind
he has been. The Lord forgives our sins, heals us when we are sick, and
protects us from death. His kindness and love are a crown on our needs and
gives us the strength of a young eagle. For all who are mistreated the Lord
brings justice.

2 Corinthians 1:5-Just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so
also through Christ our comfort overflows.
Ephesians 4:31-32-Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and
slander be put away from you, along with all malice. And be kind to one
another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has
forgiven you.
Communication
My parents simply dont understand me. Can God help us to communicate?
Ephesians 6:1-3-Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Honor your father and mother-which is the first commandment with a
promise- that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on
the earth.
Colossians 3:12-14-God loves you and has chosen you and his own special
people. So be gentle, kind, humble, meek, and patient. Put up with each
other, and forgive anyone who does you wrong, just as Christ has forgiven
you. Love is more important than anything else. It is what ties everything
completely together.
James 1:19-Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to
become angry.
Proverbs 23:22-Pay attention to your father, and dont neglect your mother
when she grows old.
Death/Dying
Im afraid of dying. Will God take care of me?
Isaiah 25:7-8-He will swallow up death for ever. Then the Lord God will wipe
away tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away
from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.
John 10:28-I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can
snatch them out of my hand.
1 John 2:17-The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the
will of God lives forever.
Psalm 23:4-Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for
you are with me; you rod and your staff-they comfort me.
Romans 8:11-Yet God raised Jesus to life! Gods spirit now lives in you, and he
will raise you to life by his Spirit.

Hebrews 2:14-15-Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in
their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the
power of death-that is, the devil-and free those who will all their lives were
held in slavery by their fear of death.
Depression
I cry easily. Will God comfort me when Im depressed?
Psalm 56:8-You have kept a record of my days of wandering. You have stored
my tears in your bottle and counted each one of them.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4-Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all
our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we
ourselves have received from God.
Revelation 7:17-For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their
shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of the water of life, and God will
wipe away every tear from their eyes.
Psalm 126:5-6-Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who
goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with him.
Isaiah 61:2-3-The Lord has sent me to comfort those who mourn, especially
in Jerusalem. He sent me to give them flowers in place of their sorrow, olive
oil in place of tears, and joyous praise in place of broken hearts. They will be
called Trees of Justice, planted by the Lord t honor his name.
Someone I really loved has just been killed in a car accident. Will God help
me out of my depression?
Isaiah 51:12-I, even I, am he who comforts you.
Isaiah 66:13-As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.
Revelation 21:3-4-God has moved into the neighborhood, making his home
with men and women! Theyre his people, hes their God. He wipe away
every tear from their eyes. Death is gone for good-tears gone, crying gone,
pain gone-all the first order of things gone.
1 Corinthians 15:54-55-Then the Scriptures will come true, Death has lost
the battle! Where is its victory? Where is its stings? But thank God for
letting our Lord Jesus Christ give us the victory!
Psalm 147:3-He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds
Failure

I wanted to do so well this terms and Ive already blown the first test. Can
God give me the energy to keep trying?
Ephesians 6:10-God is strong and he wants you strong.
Isaiah 40:29,31-The Lord gives strength to those who are weary those who
trust the Lord will find new strength. They will be strong like eagles soaring
upward on wings; they will walk and run without getting tired.
Colossians 3:23-24-Whatever you do , work at it with all your heart, as
working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an
inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Isaiah 58:11-The Lord will always guide you and provide good things to eat
when you are in desert. He will make you healthy. You will be like a garden
that has plenty of water or like a stream that never runs dry.
I just received a failing grade on my test and Im really hurting. How do I
measure up in Gods eyes?
John 16:27-The Father himself loves you because you have loved me and
have believed that I came from God.
Romans 5:1-2-Therefore, since we have been made right in Gods sight by
faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has
done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of
highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look
forward to sharing Gods glory.
Psalm 40:17-As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord is thinking about
me right now. You are my helper and my savior. Do not delay, O my God.
Zephaniah 3:17-The Lord your God wins victory after victory and is always
with you. He celebrates and sings because of you, and he will refresh your
life with his love.
Psalm 37:7-Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him;do not fret over
those who prosper in their way, over those who carry out evil devices.
Isaiah 30:15-In repentance and rest you shall be saved, in quietness and
trust is your strength.
Faith
My faith has been shaken by some of the things Ive been learning in class.
Will God write me off during periods of doubt?
2 Timothy 2:13-If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny
himself

Ephesians 2:8-God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And
you cant take credit for this; it is a gift from God.
Psalm 103:13-14-As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has
compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he
remembers that we are dust.
Jerimiah 29:13-14-When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me
with all your heart, I will let you find me, says the Lord, and I will restore your
fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have
driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I
sent you into exile.
2 Peter 3:9-He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but
everyone to come to repentance.
Romans 8:38-39-I am sure that nothing cans eparate us from Gods love-not
life or earth, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, and not
powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from
Gods love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Malachi 3:7-Ever since the days of your ancestors you have turned aside my
statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you says
the Lord. But you said, How shall we return?
My behavior always lags behind my convictions. Can God help me stand up
for what I believe?
Psalm 37:5-6-Let the Lord lead you and trust him to help. Then it be as clear
as the noonday sun that you were right.
Philippians 2:13-God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey
him.
Philippians 1:6-And I am sure that God, who began the good work within you,
will continue his work until it is finally finished on that day when Jesus Christ
comes back again.
Psalm 37:23-23-If you do what the Lord wants, he will make certain each step
you take is sure. The Lord will hold your hand, and if you stumble, you still
wont fall.
Family
My family isnt Christian and they ridicule my faith and laugh when I talk
about God. How should I relate to them?
1 Peter 2:15-17-It is Gods will that your good lives should silence those who
make foolish accusations against you. You are not slaves; you are free. But

your freedom is not an excuse to do evil. You are free to live as Gods slaves.
Show respect for everyone. Love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear
God. Show respect for the king.
2 Timothy 2:24-25-And Gods servants must not be troublemakers. They
must be kind to everyone, and they must be good teachers and very patient.
Be humble when you correct people who oppose you. Maybe God will lead
them to turn to him and learn the truth.
Ephesians 5:2-Let love be your guide. Christ loved us and offered his life for
us as a sacrifice that pleases God.
Colossians 3:!7-And whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of
the Lord Jesus, all the while giving thanks through him to God the Father.
My desire to follow Jesus causes friction and division between me and my
skeptical family. Is this really Gods will?
Mark 10:29-30-And Jesus replied, I assure you that everyone who has given
up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for
my sake and for the Good news, will receive now in return, a hundred times
over, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property-with
persecutions. And in the world to come they will have eternal life.
Psalm 27:10-11-Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will
receive me. Teach me your way, O Lord; lead me in a straight path because
of my oppressors.
Fear
I have horrible nightmares when I sleep. Can God transform my night terrors
into restful sleep?
Proverbs 3:24-When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down,
your sleep will be sweet.
Psalm 91:4-5-He will spread his wings over you and keep you secure. His
faithfulness is like a shield or a city wall. You wont need to worry about
dangers at night or arrows during the day.
Psalm 4:8-I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone. O Lord, make me
dwell in safety.
Forgiveness
Theres so much guilt on me. I even feel guilty about feeling guilty. How can I
be certain that Gods forgiveness is meant for me, since I fail so often.

Acts 13:38-39-My friends, the message is that Jesus can forgive your sins!
The Law of Moses could not set you free from all your sins. But everyone who
has faith in Jesus is set free.
Isaiah 43:25-I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My
own sake; and I will not remember your sins.
Jeremiah 31:34-I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no
more
1 John 1:9-On the other hand, if we admit our sins-make a clean breast of
them-he wont let us down; hell be true to himself. Hell forgive our sins and
purge us of all wrongdoing.
1 John 1:7-But if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his son cleanses us from
all sin.
Intellectually I know God has forgiven me, but I dont feel forgiven or live as
Im forgiven. How do I really know that He has forgiven me?
1 John 1:9-If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our
sins and purify us from all unrighteousness
Isaiah 43:25-But I wipe away your sins because of who I am. And so, I will
forget the wrongs you have done.
Titus 3:5-He saved us, not because of the good things we did, but because of
his mercy. He washed away our sins and gave us new life through the Holy
Spirit.
Psalm 103:10-12-He doesnt punish us as our sins deserve. How great is
Gods love for all who worship him? Greater than the distance between
heaven and earth! How far has the Lord taken our sins from us? Farther than
the distance from east to west!
Colossians 1:!3-14-God has rescued us from the dark power of Satan and
brought us into the kingdom of his dear son, who forgives our sins and sets
us free.
Im terrified of Gods judgement. How can I avoid His condemnation?
John 5:24-I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who
sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over
from death to life.
Romans 8:1-2-If you belong to Christ Jesus, you wont be punished. The Holy
Spirit will give you life that comes from Christ Jesus and will set you free from
sin and death.

Psalm 32:6-Therefore let all the godly confess their rebellion to you while
there is time that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment.
Romans 8:33-34-And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of
Gods chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for
us-who was raised to life for us!-is in the presence of God at this very
moment sticking us for us.
1 Corinthians 1:8-And not only that, but God himself is right alongside to
keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus
Ive had sexual intercourse and now I suffer tremendous guilt. Will God
forgive me and help me to go on?
1 John 1:9-But if we confess our sins to God, he can always be trusted to
forgive us and take our sins away.
1 Corinthians 6:11-There was a time when some of you were just like that,
but now your sins have been washed away, and you have been set apart for
God. You have been made right with God because of what the Lord Jesus
Christ and the Spirit of our God have done for you.
Acts 13:38-39-Brothers, listen! In this man Jesus there is forgiveness for
your sins. Everyone who believes in him is freed from all guilt and declared
right with God-something the Jewish law could never do.

Micah 7:19-He will again have compassion upon us; he will tread our
iniquities under foot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.
My friend has hurt me deeply. Will God show me how to forgive?
1 John 3:16-This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life
for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
Ephesians 4:31-32-Stop being bitter and angry and mad at others. Dont yell
at one another or curse each other or ever be rude. Instead, be kind and
merciful, and forgive others, just as God forgave you because of Christ.
Colossians 3:13-You must make allowance for each others faults and forgive
the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must
forgive others.
Matthew 18:15-If a fellow believer hurts you, go and tell him-work it out
between the two of you. If he listens, youve made a friend.
Generosity

Many people have less than I do, but if I give to them, how will I have enough
left for myself?
Luke 6:38-If you give to others, you will be given a full amount in return. It
will be packed down, shaken together, and spilling over your lap. The way
you treat others is the way you will be treated.
2 Corinthians-Yes, you will be enriched so that you can give even more
generously. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will
break out in thanksgiving to God.
Proverbs 11:25-Generosity will be rewarded: Give a cup of water, and you
will receive a cup of water in return.
Malachi 3:10-Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be
food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not
throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you
will not have room enough for it.
Hebrews 6:10-God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you
have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
Gods Character
Some of my teachers are sarcastic and critical of my performance. Is God
critical and judgmental too?
Psalm 103:8,10-The Lord is merciful! He is kind and patient, and his love
never fails. He doesnt punish us as our sins deserve.
Romans 8:33-34-And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of
Gods chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The one who died for
us-who was raised to life for us!-is in the presence of God at this very
moment sticking up for us
Isaiah 43:1-But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who
formed you O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you
by name, you are mine.

keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. God,
who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his
Son and our Master Jesus.
People always seem to let me down. Can I trust God to be true to me?
2 Timothy 2:13-If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny

Deuteronomy 7:9-Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the
faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those
who love him and keep his commands.
2 Corinthians 1:20-22-For no matter how many promises God has made, they
are Yes in Christ. And so through him the Amen is spoken by us to the
glory of God. Now it is God who makes .. us stand firm in Christ. He
anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his spirit in our hearts
as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
John 14:18-I will not leave you orphaned. Im coming back.
Romans 8:38-39-I am sure that nothing can separate us from Gods love-not
life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, and not
powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from
Gods love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Gods Love
I feel like a walking disaster area. How can God still love me when I keep
fouling things up?
Psalm 103:12-14-As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed
our transgressions from us. Just as a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows
our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust.
Psalm 94:18-When I said, My foot is slipping, your love, O Lord, supported
me.
Romans 5:8-But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were
still sinners, Christ died for us
Hosea 14:4-I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger
has turned away from them
Romans 6:6-7,11-Our old way of life was nailed to the Cross of Christ, a
decisive end to that sin-miserable life-no longer at sins every beck and call!
From now on, think of this way: Sin speaks a dead language that means
nothing to you; God speaks youre your mother tongue, and you hang on
every word. You are dead to sin and alive to God. Thats what Jesus did.
I feel as though no one really knows me. How deeply does God know and
understand me?
Psalm 139:1-3-O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know
when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern
my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.

Psalm 139:6-I cant understand all of this! Such wonderful knowledge is far
above me
Psalm 139: 13, 15-16-You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and
knit me together in my mothers womb . You watched me as I was being
formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your
book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
Psalm 142:3-When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who know my
way.
Isaiah 64:8-You, Lord, are our Father. We are nothing but clay, but you are the
potter who molded us.
My father rarely was around while I was growing up, so Ive never really
known what its like to have a father. Will God be a father to me?
2 Corinthians 6:18-I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and
daughters, says the Lord Almighty.
Galatians 4:6-Now that we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son
into our hearts. And his Spirit tells us that God is our Father.
Psalm 103:13-The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and
compassionate to those who fear him.
Psalm 89:26-He will say to me, You are my Father and my God, as well as the
mighty rock where I am safe.
1 John 3:1-What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at itwere called children of God! Thats who we really are.
The important people in my life often have abandoned me. Now I dont trust
anyone. How do I know God wont desert me, too?
Hebrews 13:5-The Lord has promised that he will not leave us or desert us.

Deuteronomy 4:31-For the Lord your God is a merciful God; he will not

Psalm 37:28-The Lord loves justice, and he wont ever desert his faithful
people. He always protects them, but destroys the children of the wicked

Isaiah 54:10-Every mountain and hill may disappear. But I will always be kind
and merciful to you; I wont break my agreement to give your nation of
peace.
Im adopted and my parents treat me differently from their natural children.
Will God consider me as one of His true children?
Ephesians 2:19-Youre no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is
now your home country. Youre no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong
here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone.
Romans 8:16-17-Gods Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really
are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And
we know we are going to get whats coming to us-an unbelievable
inheritance! We go through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go
through the hard times with him, then were certainly going to go through
the good times with him!
John 1:12-Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name he
gave the right to become children of God.
Gods Presence
My Christian family really supports me in my faith; but when Im not with
them, I feel so alone. Can I stay close to God without their help?
John 14:18-I will not leave you orphaned. Im coming back.
Zephaniah 3:17-The Lord your God wins victory after victory and is always
with you. He celebrates and sings because of you, and he will refresh your
life with his love
Genesis 28:!5-Behold I am with you and will keep you wherever you gofor I

Deuteronomy 31:6-Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified
because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave

quickly be healed. Your honesty will protect you as you advance, and the
glory of the Lord will defend you from behind.
Gods Provision
My dad just got laid off and theres not enough money to pay the bills. Will
God take care of us?

Philippians 4:19-I pray that God will take care of all your needs with the
wonderful blessings that come from Christ Jesus!
2 Corinthians 9:8-God can bless you with everything you need, and you will
always have more than enough to do all kinds of good things for others.
Psalm 34:10-The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the

Romans 8:32-If God didnt hesitate to put everything on the line for us,

Gods sovereignty
What is happening in the world is very frightening. How can I know God is
still in control?
Isaiah 2:4-The Lord will settle international disputes. All the nations will beat
their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. All wars
will stop, and military training will come to an end.
1 Samuel 17:47-Everybody here will see that the Lord doesnt need swords
or spears to save his people. The Lord always wins battles, and he will help
us defeat you.
Psalm 125:1-2-Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot
be shaken but endures forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the
Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore.
1 Peter 5:7-Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what
happens to you.
Gods Will
I feel as if I dont belong anywhere. Where do I fit in Gods plans?
Ephesians 2:!0-For we are Gods masterpiece. He has created us anew in
Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
2 Corinthians 5:17-20-If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has
gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself
through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was
reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting mens sins against
them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are

therefore Christs ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal


through us.
Colossians 1:10-12-You may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him
in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of
God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so
that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks
to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints
in the kingdom of light.
Mark 16:15-Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation

Guidance
Im afraid Im going to go crazy. Will God help me hold my pieces together?
2 Corinthians 12:9-Each time he said, My gracious favor is all you need. My
power works best in your weakness. So now I am glad to boast about my
weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may work through me.
Philippians 4:!3-Christ gives me strength to face anything
Deuteronomy 31:8-The Lord will lead you into the land. He will always be
with you and help you, so dont ever be afraid of your enemies.
Isaiah 26:3-Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace-in peace because they
trust in you.
John 14:27-I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the
peace I give isnt like the peace the world gives. So dont be troubled or
afraid.
I often feel panic when I think about the future. Where can I turn for help and
reassurance?
Philippians 4:6-7-Dont fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions
and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns.
Before you know it, a sense of Gods wholeness, everything coming together
for good, will come and settle down. Its wonderful what happens when
Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
Psalm 34:4-I sought the Lord, and He answered me, and delivered me from
all my fears.

Joshua 1:9-Ive commanded you to be strong and brave. Dont ever be afraid
or discouraged! I am the Lord your God, and I will be there to help you
wherever you go.
Psalm 121:5-8-The Lord watches over you-the Lord is your shade at your
right hand: the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The
Lord will keep you from all harm-he will watch over your life; the Lord will
watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Isaiah 58:11-The Lord will always guide you and provide good things to eat
when you are in the desert. He will make you healthy. You will be like a
garden that has plenty of water or like a stream that never runs dry.
Responsibility really scares me. Will God help me face up to what is
expected of me?

uphold you with my righteous right hand.

1 John 5:4-5-The conquering power that brings the world to its knees is our
faith. The person who wins out over the worlds ways is simply the one who

Health
I feel sick much of the time. Will God help me back to health?
Jerimiah 30:17-But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares
the Lord
Exodus 15:26: I am the Lord who heals you.
Matthew 8:16-17-That evening many people with demons in them were
brought to Jesus. And with only a word he forced out the evil spirits and
healed everyone who was sick. So Gods promise came true, just as the
prophet Isaiah had said, He healed our diseases and made us well.
Isaiah 58:11-The Lord will always guide you and provide good things to eat
when you are in the desert. He will make you healthy. You will be like a
garden that has plenty of water or like a stream that never runs dry.

Malachi 4:2-But for you that honor my name, victory will shine like the sun
with healing in its rays, and you will jump around like calves at play.
My Mother is terminally ill. How can God help us to cope?
Psalm 34:18-The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are
crushed in spirit.

the Father of mercies and God of all consolation, who consoles us in all our

Romans 5:3-5-We can rejoice too when we run into problems and trials, for

disappoint us. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given
us the Holy Spirit to fill our heart with his love.

Hope
Sometimes I feel as though I simply cannot go on living. Where can I find

Identity
When Im in a group I often fail to act like myself. Is it safe to be honest with
God?
John 6:37-Everything and everyone that the Father has given me will come to
me, and I wont turn any of them away

about me. You know when I am resting or when I am working, and from
heaven you discover my thoughts.
Hebrews 4:13-Nothing in all creation can hide from him. Everything is naked
and exposed before his eyes. This is the God to whom we must explain all
that we have done
1 John 1:5-9-Jesus told us that God is light and doesnt have any darkness in
him. Now we are telling you. If we say that we share in life with God and
keep on living in the dark, we are lying and are not living by the truth. But if
we live in the light as God does, we share in life with each other. And the
blood of his Son Jesus washes all our sins away. If we say that we have not
sinned, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth isnt in our hearts. But if we
confess our sins to God, he can always be trusted to forgive us and take our
sins away.
Psalm 51:6-But you want complete honesty, so teach me true wisdom

heart, O God, you will not despise
Im even a stranger to myself these days. Does God know who really am?
Psalm 139:13-15-You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my

from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in

2 Corinthians 1:22-And he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy


Spirit in our hearts as the first installment of everything he will give us.
2 Corinthians 3:18-So our faces are not covered. They show the bright glory
of the Lord, as the Lords Spirit make us more and more like our glorious

holy temple for the Lord.
Matthew 10:29-31-Arent two sparrows sold for only a penny? But your Father
knows when any one of them falls to the ground. Even the hairs on your

Insecurity
Its scary to be out on my own for the first time. How can I be sure that God is
still with me?
Deuteronomy 31:8-It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he
will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed
Psalm 121:2-4, 7-8-It will come from the Lord, who created the heavens and
the earth. The Lord is your protector, and he wont go to sleep or let you
stumble. The protector of Israel doesnt doze or ever get drowsy. The Lord
will protect you and keep you safe from all dangers. The Lord will protect you
now and always wherever you go.
John 14:18-I will not leave you orphaned. Im coming back.
Psalm 48:14-For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide
even to the end.
My parent are always fighting. Im afraid they will separate. What do I have
to hold on to?
Psalm 91:1-2,4-Live under the protection of God the most high and stay in
the shadow of God all-powerful. Then you will say to the Lord, You are my
fortress, my place of safety; you are my God, and I trust you. He will spread
his wings over you and keep you secure. His faithfulness is like a shield or a
city wall.

will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I
will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

Jealousy
Its hard for me not to hate someone who has taken my place in someone
elses life. Will God help me with my jealousy?
Galatians 5:25-26-Gods Spirit has given us life, and so we should follow the
Spirit. But dont be conceited or make others jealous by claiming to be better
than they are.
1 Corinthians 13:4-Love is kind and patient, never jealous, boastful, proud, or
rude. Love isnt selfish or quick tempered. It doesnt keep a record of wrongs
that others do.
Philippians 2:4-Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the
interests of others.
Romans 12:9-10-Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is
good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above
yourselves.
Proverbs 14:30-A relaxed attitude lengthens life; jealousy rots it away.
Knowing God
Ive had so much religion crammed down my throat that sometimes God
seems just a clich to me. How can God be real in my life.
James 4:8-Say a quiet yes to God and hell be there in no time.
John 14:23-Jesus replied, If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My
Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
1 John 3:24-As we keep his commands, we live deeply and surely in him, and
he lives in us. And this is how we experience his deep and abiding presence
in us: by the Spirit he gave us.
John 1:12-13-But to all who received [Jesus], who believed in his name, he
gave power to become children of God; who were born, not of blood or of the
will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God.
John 12:44-45-Jesus shouted to the crowds, If you trust me, you are really
trusting God who sent me. For when you see me, you are seeing the one who

Im really upset by some of the horrible things that people have done in the
name of Christianity. Is God really good?

Deuteronomy 32:3-4-Join with me in praising the wonderful name of the Lord


our God. The Lord is a mighty rock, and he never does wrong. God can
always be trusted to bring justice.
Psalm 100:5-For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and
his faithfulness continues to each generation.
Psalm 19:7-9-The Law of the Lord is perfect; it gives us new life. His
teachings last forever, and they give wisdom to ordinary people. The Lords
instruction is right; it makes our hearts glad. His commands shine brightly,
and they give us light.
Psalm 89:1-2-I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my
mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. I declare that your
steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the
heavens.
People have so many different ideas about God. Can I trust God to give me
true understanding about Himself?
Isaiah 42:16-And I will lead the blind by a way they do not know, in paths
they do not know I will guide them. I will make darkness into light before
them and rugged places into plains. These are the things I will do, and I will
not leave them undone.
John 8:31-32-Jesus said, If you hold to my teaching, you are really my
disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
John 16:13-When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the
truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and
he will declare to you the things that are to come.
Daniel 2:22-He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies
hidden in darkness, though he himself is surrounded by light
Psalm 73:24-Your advice has been my guide, and later you will welcome me
in glory.

Loneliness
Im so lonely and homesick I feel as if Im going to die. Does God understand
how I feel?
John 14:18-I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

Psalms 68:6-You find families for those who are lonely. You set prisoners free
and let them prosper.
Isaiah 58:9-Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry for
help, and he will say, Here I am.
Colossians 2:10-And you are complete through your union with Christ. He is
the Lord over every ruler and authority in the universe.
Loving God
School is overwhelming that I havent been able to spend any decent time
with God lately. How will this affect my standing with Him?
Isaiah 41:10-Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your
God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious
right hand.
Jerimiah 7:23-But this command I gave them, Obey my voice, and I will be
your God, and you shall be my people; and walk only in the way that I
command you, so that it may be well with you.
Luke 11:28-But Jesus replied, Thats true, but the people who are really
blessed are the ones who hear and obey Gods message.
Loving Others
I often argue and disagree with my brothers and sisters. Can God help my
relationships with them?
1 John 4:20-21-If someone says, I love God, but hates a Christian brother or
sister, that person is a liar; for if we dont love the people we can see, how
can we love God, whom we have not seen?
Proverbs 17:17-A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time
of need.
Matthew 18:!5-If one of my followers sins against you, go and point out what
was wrong. But do it in private, just between the two of you. If that person
listens, you have won back a follower.
I get enraged at bigots. Can God keep me from being bigoted about bigots?
Romans 15:1-We who are strong ought to put up with the failings of the
weak, and not to please ourselves.
Colossians 3:12-14-Therefore, as Gods chosen people, holy and dearly loved,
clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and
patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may

have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these
virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
1 Peter 5:5-6-You younger men, accept authority of the elders. And all for
you, serve each other in humility, for God sets himself against the proud,
but he shows favor to the humble.
All the weirdos seem to be attracted to me. Can God help me to love all
my brothers and sisters.
1 John 4:12-No one has ever seen God; but if we love each other, God lives in
us and his love is made complete in us.
1 Peter 3:8-9-Finally all of you should be of one mind, full of sympathy toward
each other, loving one another with tender hearts and humble minds. Dont
repay evil for evil. Dont retaliate when people say unkind things about you.
Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God wants you to do
and he will bless you for it.
1 John 3:16-This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life
for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
Philippians 1:9-10-I pray that your love will keep on growing and that you will
fully know and understand how to make the right choices. Then you will still
be pure and innocent when Christ returns
My roommate is driving me nuts. How does God put up with such an
obnoxious individual?
Romans 5:8-But God showed how much he loved us by having Christ die for
us, even though we were sinful
Ephesians 3:17-19-And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in
your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of
Gods marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all
Gods people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love
really is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will
never fully understand it.Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and
power that comes from God.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7-Love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant
or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it
does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things,
believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.
Marriage

All my friends are getting married. Will God guide me to a mate who is right
for me?
Jerimiah 29:11-I will bless you with a future filled with hope-a future of

Proverbs 3:6-Always let him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to

Psalm 145:16-19-You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living
thing. The Lord is righteous in all his ways and loving toward all he has made.

fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.
Psalm 139:3,5-You chart the path ahead of me and tell me where to stop and
rest. Every moment you know where I am. You both precede and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Psalm 138:8-The Lord will fulfill his purposes for me; your love, O Lord,
endures forever.
I get scared when I think about spending the rest of my life with someone in
a marriage relationship. Can God help me love someone that long?
Colossians 3:18-19-Wives, be subject to your husbands, as fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives, and do not be embittered against them.
Ephesians 5:33-So each husband should love his wife as much as he loves
himself, and each wife should respect her husband.
Matthew 19:4-6-Havent you read that at the beginning the Creator made
them male and female, and said, For this reason a man will leave his father
and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh? So
they are no longer two but one. Therefore what God has joined, let man not
separate.
Patience
Some people really bug me. Can I count on God to give me more patience?
Romans 15:5-6-May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help
you live in complete harmony with each other-each with the attitude of Christ
Jesus toward the other. Then all of you can join together with one voice,
giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians 5:22-But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce
this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law.

2 Timothy 2:24-25-And Gods servants must not be troublemakers. They


must be kind to everyone, and they must be good teachers and very patient.
Be humble when you correct people who oppose you. Maybe God will lead
them to tun to him and learn the truth.
Ephesians 4:2-3-Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, amking
allowance for each others faults because of your love. Always keep
yourselves united in the Holy Spirit, and bind yourselves together with
peace.
Peer Pressure
How do I deal with peer pressure? Will God help me to be strong for Him?
Colossians 3:17-And whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of
the Lord Jesus, all the while giving thanks through him to God the father.
Philippians 2:14-16-Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that
you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a
crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the
universe as you hold out the word of life.
1 Peter 3:15-16-Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if
you are asked about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But
you must do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear.
Then if people speak evil against you, they will be ashamed when they see
what a good life you live because you belong to Christ.
Personality
I have such as doormat personality. Does God want me to be more
assertive?
Exodus 4:11-12-Who makes people able to speak or makes them deaf or
unable to speak? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Dont you

When I pray it feels as if Im just talking to myself. Is God really listening to
my prayers?
1 John 5:14-15-We are certain that God will hear our prayers when we ask for
what pleases him. And if we know that God listens when we pray, we are
sure that our prayers have already been answered.
Jeremiah 29:12-14-Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and
I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all
your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord.
Isaiah 65:24-I will answer their prayers before they finish praying
Psalm 34:17-When his people pray for help, he listens and rescues them from
their troubles
Romans 8:26-27- In a certain ways we are weak, but the Spirit is here to help
us. For example, when we dont know what to pray for, the Spirit prays for us
in ways that cannot be put into words. All of our thoughts are known to God.
He can understand what is in the mind of the Spirit, as the Spirit prays for
Gods people.
1 John 3:22-23-Whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His
commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight. And this is
His commandment that we believe in the name of His son Jesus Christ, and
love one another, just as He commanded us.
God seems very far away. How can I get in touch with Him again?
2 Chronicles 7:14-If my people who are called by my name humble
themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will
hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

James 4:7-8,10-Surrender to God! Resist the devil, and he will run from you.
Come near to God, and he will come near to you. Clean up your lives, you
sinners. Purify your hearts, you people who cant make up your mind. Be
humble in the Lords presence, and he will honor you.

God did this, wont he freely give us everything else?

Pride
I got high grades this semester. How can God help me keep my priorities
straight and keep me from pride?
Romans 12:3-As Gods messenger, I give each of you this warning: Be honest
in your estimate of yourselves, measuring your value by how much faith God
has given you.
James 1:17-Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts
are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing
deceitful in God, nothing too-faced, nothing fickle.
Purpose
I dont know what to do with my life. Does God have dreams and plans for
me?
Psalm 32:8-I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will
counsel you and watch over you.
Jeremiah 29:11-For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans
to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Exodus 4:15-I will teach you what you are to do.


Psalm 138:8-The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O
Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.
Psalm 139:3,5-You chart the path ahead of me and tell me where to stop and
rest. Every moment you know where I am. You both precede and follow me.

Nothing makes much sense to me anymore. How can I discover meaning in

I get bored with life. Will God motivate and inspire me?

being near to me. Sitting at your right side, I will always be joyful.

Relationships
My boyfriend/girlfriend has just broken up with me and Im absolutely
devastated. Will God help me through this pain and fill the emptiness in my
heart?
Psalm 34:18-The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are
crushed in spirit.
Isaiah 51:3-The Lord will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion
on all her ruins; he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the
garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and
the sound of singing.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4-Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all

Revenge
I feel like getting even when someone has insulted me. Can God help me get
rid of such feelings?
1 Peter 3:9-Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing

Psalm 37:7-9-Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to
act. Dont worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked

schemes. Stop you anger! Turn from your rage! Do not envy others-it only
leads to harm. For the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the
Lord will possess the land.
Proverbs 20:22-Dont try to get even. Trust the Lord, and he will help you.
Matthew 5:11-12-Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and
falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad,
because great is your reward in heaven, for in same way they persecuted the
prophets who were before you.
Self-control
I often feel the need to get high on drugs. Can I depend on God instead of
drugs to fulfill me?
Romans 8:6-If our minds are ruled by our desires, we will die. But if our
minds are ruled by the Spirit, we will have life and peace.
2 Corinthians 3:17-Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord
is, there is freedom.
John 8:36-If the Son gives you freedom, you are free
Romans 8:32-If God didnt hesitate to put everything on the line for us,
embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his
own son, is there anything else he wouldnt gladly and freely do for us?
Philippians 4:19-And my God will fully satisfy every need of yours according

Sometimes I drink too much and I seem to flunk every diet I try. How can I let
God control my life instead of my being controlled by food and alcohol?

life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.

Sin
Im involved in a homosexual relationship. Will God help me out of this trap?
1 Corinthians 6:!3-You say, Food is for the stomach, and the stomach is for
food. This is true, though someday God will do away with both of them. But
our bodies were not made for sexual immorality. They were made for the
Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies.
1 Corinthians 10:13-No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the
course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that
God will never let you down; hell never let you be pushed past your limit;
hell always be there to help you come through it.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11-Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the
kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor
idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor
thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit
the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were
washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus
Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Speech
I have a big mouth. How can I develop more discretion in what I say?
Psalm 141:3-Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door
of my lips.
Proverbs 21:23-He who guards his mouth and his tongue, guards his soul
from troubles.
Proverbs 10:19-You will say the wrong thing if you talk too much-so be
sensible and watch what you say.

Ephesians 4:29, 5:4-Stop all your dirty talk. Say the right thing at the right
time and help others by what you say. Dont use dirty or foolish or fulthy
words. Instead, say how thankful you are.
Proverbs 12:18-Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the
wise brings healing
James 1:26-If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a
tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.
Strength
I feel tired all the time. Can God give me the energy I need?
Isaiah 40:29-The Lord gives strength to those who are weary

walk and not be faint

Stress
Im so busy that there are so many demands on my time, I dont even have
time to think. How can I slow down?
Philippians 4:6-7-Dont worry about anything; instead pray about everything.
Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you
will experience Gods peace, which is far more wonderful than the human
mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live
in Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 26:3-You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast,
because he trusts in you.
Matthew 11:28-Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to
me. Get away with me and youll recover your life. Ill show you how to take
a real rest.
Psalm 46:10-Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among
the nations, I will be exalted in the earth

Suffering
I feel so sad about all the people who are hurting in the world. Does God
really care about suffering people?
Psalm 10:14-But you see the trouble and distress, and you will do something.
The poor can count on you, and so can orphans
Psalm 22:24-For he has not despised or disdained the suffering of the
afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry
for help.
Psalm 10:17-18-You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage
them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the
oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more
John 3:16-17-This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one
and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing
in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didnt go into all the
trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the
world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.
Isaiah 30:18-The Lord God is waiting to show how kind he is and to have pity

Temptation
I feel so guilty because of my problems with masturbation and lust. Can God
help me overcome these temptations?
1 Corinthians 10:13-You are tempted in the same way that everyone else is
tempted. But God can be trusted not to let you be tempted too much, and he
will show you how to escape from your temptations
Psalm 119:9-10-How can a young man keep his way pure? By living
according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from
your commands
1 Timothy 6:11-But you, Timothy, belong to God; so run from all these evil
things; and follow what is right and good. Pursue a godly life, along with
faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.
2 Thessalonians 3:3-But the Lord can be trusted to make you strong and
protect you from harm.
James 4:7-8-Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from
you. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.

Galatians 5:16-17, 24-25-If you are guided by the Spirit, you wont obey your
selfish desires. The Spirit and your desires are enemies of each other. And
because we belong to Christ Jesus, we have killed our selfish feelings and
desires. Gods spirit has given us life, and so we should follow the Spirit.
Wisdom
Life is so confusing-the more I learn, the more I discover gray areas instead
of blacks and whites. Will God help me to be more discerning?
James 1:5-If you dont know what youre doing, pray to the Father. He loves
to help. Youll get his help, and wont be condescended to when you ask for
it.
Psalm 25:9-He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.
Isaiah 30:20-21-The Lord has given you trouble and sorrow as your food and
drink. But now you will again see the Lord, your teacher, and he will guide
you. Whether you turn into the right ot to the left, you will hear a voice
saying, This is the road! Now follow it.
John 14:26-But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in
my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have
said to you.
John 16:13-When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the
truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and
he will declare to you the things that are to come.
Witnessing
I want to share my faith with others. How can I be more than a witless
witness?
Acts 1:8-But the Holy Spirit will come upon you and give you power. The you
will tell everyone about me in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria, and
everywhere in the world.
Matthew 28:19-20-Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and
teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am
with you always, to the very end of the age.
2 Corinthians 3:12-Since this new covenant gives us such confidence, we can
be very bold.
Matthew 10:19-20-When they hand you over, do not worry about how you
are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to

you at that time; for it is not you who speak but the Spirit of your Father
speaking through you
Worship
Sometimes church strikes me as rigid and ritualistic. How can I worship God
in a way that really pleases Him?
Hosea 6:6-I want you to be merciful; I dont want your sacrifices. I want you
to know God; thats more important than burnt offerings.
Psalm 51:17-The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and
contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
Deuteronomy 10:12-13-What does the Lord your God require from you, but to
fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, and love Him, to serve the
Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the
Lords commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today
for your good.
Micah 6:8-The Lord God has told us what is right and what he demands: See
that justice is done, let mercy be your first concern, and humbly obey your
God.
John 4:23-24-But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true
worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks
such as these to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must
worship in spirit and in truth.
Worth
I get depressed every time I look in the mirror. How does God see me?
1 Samuel 16:7-The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks
at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
Psalm 96:9-Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor. Let all the earth tremble
before him.
Zechariah 9:16-17-The Lord their God will save them on that day as the flock
of his people. They will sparkle in his land like jewels in a crown. How
attractive and beautiful they will be!
1 Peter 3:3-4-Dont depend on things like fancy hairdos or gold jewelry or
expensive clothes to make you look beautiful. Be beautiful in your heart by
being gentle and quiet. This kind of beauty will last, and God considers it
very special.

I know God created this huge world, but how can I be sure that He cares for
me-one person among billions?
Isaiah 46:4-I will be your God throughout your lifetime-until your hair is white
with a ge. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save
you.

firmly together with Christ. God is also the one who chose us and put his
spirit in our hearts to show that we belong only to him.
Isaiah 43:1-Descendants of Jacob, I the Lord, created you and formed your
nation. Israel, dont be afraid. I have rescued you. I have called you by name;
now you belong to me

Some days I feel very unloved. Does God truly love me?

Things are so impersonal at school. How can I be sure Im not just a number
to God?

I feel so inferior to almost everyone. How do I rate in Gods eyes?
Isaiah 62:3-4-The Lord will hold you in his hands for all to see-a splendid
crown in the hands of God. Never again will you be called the Godforsaken
City or the Desolate Land. Your new name will be the City of Gods Delight
and the Bride of God, for the Lord delights in you and will claim you as his
own.
Isaiah 43:4-Because you are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love
you, I give people in return for you, nations in exchange for your life.

Hebrews 2:6-7-Somewhere in the Scriptures someone says to God, What


makes you care about us humans? Why are you concerned for weaklings
such as we? You made us lower than the angels for a while. Yet you have
crowned us with glory and honor.
I feel so stupid and thick-brained. Does God really love slow people and
underachievers like me?
Psalm 145:13-14-The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving towards all
he has made. The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are
bowed down.
Psalm 139:13-14-For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in
my mothers womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully
made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17-God our Father loves us. He is kind and has given us
eternal comfort and a wonderful hope. We pray that our Lord Jesus Christ and
God our Father will encourage you and help you always to do and say the
right thing.
2 Peter 1:3-His divine power has given us everything needed for life and
godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and
goodness.
