Light has a dual nature.

In some experiments it behaves as a wave and in some, a

particle but never behaves as both simultaneously.

Light passing through very narrow slit shows interference, which refers to any
situation where two or more waves overlap in space due to the principle of
superposition. |Univ physics|

The principle of superposition states that when two or more waves in phase
overlap they add together and its called constructive interference while if the
overlapping waves are out phase then they cancel out each other which is called
destructive interference. The superposition of light waves produces a pattern
composed of bright and dark bands that are called fringes. At each bright bands the
waves undergo constructive interference while dark bands undergo destructive
interference. https://books.google.com.ph/books?

Ideally, when a light passes through a very narrow slit it produces a broad region of
light on a screen cause by the spreading of light as it passes through the opening.
