Dear Sir,

Re: Prime Minister's Oath of Office Traffic Diversion

Please refer to the Police Communiqu issued on 22 January 2017 by the
Commissioner of Police regarding inter alia the numerous traffic diversions
which will be implemented in the capital in the context of the above from noon
to 1900 hrs tomorrow Monday 23 January 2017.
2. As you may be aware, many students from State Secondary schools in the
various zones are called upon to commute, by means of public transport or
otherwise, through Port Louis en route to their respective institutions and back.
3. In this context, it will be appreciated if the Ministry of Education and
Human Resources, Tertiary Education and Scientific Research could, as a
precautionary measure, issue the requisite directives at the earliest such that
students of all State Secondary Schools and other colleges are exceptionally
released as from 1030 hrs tomorrow Monday 23 January 2017 to allow
them to proceed to their intended return destinations, unhindered and safely.
The Government Secondary School Teachers' Union (GSSTU) feels much
concerned about the safety and security of our students.

Your usual cooperation and due diligence in this regard will be highly
appreciated.

Yours faithfully,

V. Ramdonee
President
