in.

Inch or inches

Infiltration

Rainfall runoff that enters the collection system through indirect

connections (cracked sewers, leaky manholes, defective joints, etc.)
and results in a delayed increase in wastewater flow.

Inflow

Rainfall runoff that enters the collection system through direct

connections, such as downspouts, area drains, and manhole covers.
Inflow is separate and distinguished from infiltration.

Inflow and Infiltration

The wastewater component caused by rainfall-dependent

inflow/infiltration (RDI/I) and groundwater infiltration (GWI).

Peak-Day Flow

PDF/AAF

Peak-Day Flow Divided by Annual Average Flow

Peak-Day Flow

The average flow occurring during the maximum flow day of the year.
(sometimes called MDD Maximum Day Demand or MDF Maximum
Day Flow)

Peak-Hour Dry-Weather Flow The peak-hour dry-weather flow is the highest measured hourly flow
for the year that occurs on a dry-weather day. (sometimes called
PDWF Peak Dry-Weather Flow)
Peak-Hour Flow

The peak-hour flow is the highest measured hourly flow for the year.
(It is the same as the PHWWF.)

Peak-Hour Wet-Weather Flow The peak-hour wet-weather flow is the highest measured hourly flow
for the year that occurs during wet weather. (sometimes called PWWF
Peak Wet Weather Flow)
