I. Introduction
Artemisia vulgaris Linn. or more commonly known as Wormwood or Damong-Maria is an erect
perrenial herbal plant. It is native in Asia, Europe, Africa and North and South America. These
leaves are widely cultivated in the Philippines because it has many healing properties that is
beneficial to the people.
This plant has many healing and medicinal properties that are advantageous to us. It is being use
in decoction (The method of extraction by boiling of dissolved chemicals from herbal or plant
material, which may include stems, roots, bark and rhizomes.) in many parts of the globe,
particularly in Asia because people generally believe that this plant especially the leaves has
medicinal properties such as it is an hemostatic, antiseptic, and carminative. It is being used to
heal wounds, ulcers, diarrhea and many more. It can also be used by people who have eating
disorders such as anorexia for this plant stimulates appetite. It can also be used in intestinal
deworming, insect repelant, induce menstruation, it can ease menstruation cramps but most of all
it can cure stomach ache.
There are many perks that we can gain in this plant but the main focus or objective of the
researchers is to use Dahong-Maria leaves to create a tea that is all natural, effective and
efficient. The researchers believe that they will succeed in developing this product because of
the plants natural medicinal characteristics and property that can heal stomach ache. It is well
proven and viable because it is being practiced all over the world, it is being used in decotation
but we want to preserve the shelf life of Damong-Maria so we are aimed to make a tea that will
be beneficial to people in healing stomach pain or stomach ache that may lead to diarrhea. We
generally believe that Damong-Maria or Artemisia vulgaris Linn can be used to heal stomach
ache because it has scientific proofs and it is also an antiseptic that could kill germs and bacterias
that may cause severe stomach pain.
II. Problem
1. Can we find an alternative and herbal medicine for stomach ache?
2. Is Damong Maria really safe and effective in curing stomach pain?
3. What are the other benefits given by Damong Maria?
III. Hypothesis
The researchers hypothesize that they can create a herbal tea from Damong Maria with Pandan.
The product is going to be reliable and effective medicine for stomach ache.
IV. Objectives
1. Create a medicine that is purely from the nature.
2. Produce a herbal tea medicine made up of Damong Maria with Pandan leaves that can be
a backup or replacement if the prescribe drugs are not effective at all.
3. Give a convenient but proven alternative tea medicine.
4. To inform people how to do a herbal medicine in case of emergency or urgency and they
cannot find a place that sells the drugs needed.

VI. Procedures
1. Put the Damong Maria with Pandan leaves in a place where it can get enough sunlight.
Make sure that the place is dry and the leaves will be sun-dried.
2. Leave the Damong Maria with Pandan leaves for 3-5 hours; it depends on the heat given
by the sun. Just make sure that they are toasted enough to be crunch.
3. When you finally get the dried leaves, crush it carefully using your hands. Separate the
leaves in two bowls.
4. When the crushed leaves are ready, get the filter paper and put the leaves inside it.
Remember not to put too much or too little because it will affect your drink when you
finally use it.
5. Seal the paper using the needle and thread.
6. Cut a little long length of the thread and a small portion from the folder/ thick paper for
the handle.
(Directions for using)

3. Remove the tea bag when done and stir the cup with spoon.
want and added to that is that this plant stimulates appetite and young leaves are used for
anorexia.
The tea does not only taste a little bitter but it also gives that smell. That is why Instead of
buying other expensive flavouring the researchers chose Pandan leaves to lessen the bad
smell and to keep the tea natural. It is safe because other people use Pandan leaves in cooking
and it adds sweet taste to the tea. Using sugar should be avoided because it will bring other
reaction to the efficiency of the tea. If the patient really needs to drink this medicine, it is
permitted to directly boil the leaves in the water and casserole because other elders are
originally using that strategy. There will be no changes in the credibility and nutrients the
medicine is going to give. The final product the researchers made to Damong Maria with
Pandan Herbal Tea is to verify that fresh or not, as long as the leaves are clean people can use
it in mending stomach pain. Using this style, the researchers justify how people can store it
properly, bring it anywhere and drink the medicine conveniently because of its size,
appearance and the total presentation of the tea. Damong Maria and Pandan can be easily
found anywhere that allows people to create his own herbal tea that answered the first
problem.
VIII. Conclusion
Therefore, the researchers concluded that their hypothesis is accepted and Damong Maria
with Pandan leaves Herbal Tea is acceptable as an alternative and herbal medicine for
stomach pain. Also, Artemisia vulagris or Damong Maria is also considered as medicine in
terms of; juice of the leaves used externally to heal wounds and cuts, convulsion, scabies,
eczema, herpes; alterative as fomentations for skin diseases and foul ulcers; other way is it
mixed with ginger: Pounded leaves and wrapped in banana leaves and heated over a fire, and
applied to wounds and swollen and inflamed dermal afflictions and lastly, Infusion of
aromatic leaves used to induce menstruation and used as abortifacient, but considered too
mild a uterine stimulant to be reliable for that purpose. Through the related studies and
background information the researchers believed that this product is valuable and can be
considered as an herbal medicine.People might question the sufficiency of the DMP-Tea
because of the short time allotted for the observation so they are open for critics but most
important of all is that the researchers are able to answer the three problems, respond to the
objectives they formed before doing this investigatory project and have shown credible and
real evidence.
IX. Recommendation
For the future researchers who will also create an herbal tea, the researchers hope that this
investigatory project may help you in some ways. They suggest you to allot longer time in
planning, preparing and doing your project to make sure that every question will be answered
and you will be able to create a more excellent product.
For the user, the researchers proved the efficiency of the DM-tea, they are recommending you to
ask prescription before taking it. Every people have different types of body and
misunderstanding or drinking some medicine may give you side effects. This is convenient and
credible but for further usage and safer state, if you are not that confident enough with your
health; either you have history about stomach pain or you feel like you easily get allergies or
other disease you should ask your doctor first.
