REACTION PAPER: Who Murdered Andres Bonifacio?

I segmented the video into 3 topics it discusses, brief biography of

Andres Bonifacio, history of Philippine Political Government (Magdalo and
KKK) and death of Andres Bonifacio. All details are mostly told by historian,
Jonathan Balsamo and grand-grandson of Procopio Bonifacio, Atty. Gregorio
Bonifacio which verifies the accounts. Each topic induced realization to me
which affected my perspective in Philippine history.
Andres Bonifacio is a Filipino revolutionary leader known as the
Supremo of Kataas-taasan at Kagalang-galangan Katipuan ng mga anak ng
bayan or KKK which he is one of the founders. Despite his unfinished studies
he read continuously leading to his discovery of our national hero, Dr.Jose
Rizals works (Noli Me Tangere and ElFilibusterismo). Bonifacio found the
flawed system of Spanish Colonization which sparked a flame of nationalism
in him to fight for the Philippines rightful independence. If I will apply it to
today, among the numerous distraction and priorities a Filipino must not
discontinue education of oneself to the news better the truth behind state of
affairs that affect his country whether in economical, cultural or political
aspects in order to be knowledgeable in what side his support will be
rewarded.
Two leaders (Emilio Aguinaldo and Andres Bonifacio) are followed by
two groups (KKK and Magdalo) but they only have one mission striving to
attain, to give Filipinos a taste of freedom. From absence of Aguinaldos
Magdalo failure to follow their agreement to support KKK in the attack to
Intramuros that resulted deaths of Katipuneros in vain to alleged extensive

cheating on voting for the President during Tejeros Convention, it taught me
that right from the history of the Philippines greed and corruption are vastly
practiced. Only the elimination of these 2 destructive forces then we will
have the unity between countrymen that we will be truly independent to
unlike the 333 years of Spanish colonization of past generation are the
binding chains of poverty that keeps Philippines from becoming a remarkable
country.
Before I even watched the video I have always compared the dispute
between Marcos and Aquino to Aguinaldo and Bonifacio. They are similar at
an instance they both started as partners, one is blamed for the death of the
other and observably both just want to serve their motherland. It is
expressed that according to El Renacimiento, no hearing was implemented
and Andres Bonifacio and his brother, Procopio were stabbed. If the death
sentence is based solely on a man whom claims he was paid by Bonifacio to
kill the first president of the Philippines ( a case of treason) then it indicates
strong ignorance and defect in the ability of Aguinaldo as a fair leader. He is
immensely influenced by his generals to penalize a man without due
process. In modern times, we may not have advisers like of Aguinaldos but
we have media to persuade us and supplement us with opinions and fact
which treads in a thin line. It depends to us, Filipinos if we will exclusively
root our beliefs from them or venture to wider array of more noble sources.
With lack of awareness comes gullibility, if we dont see the mistakes of the
past that shall be corrected then we will just attest to the saying, History
repeats itself.
