Power Hacksaw

A power hacksaw (or electric hacksaw) is a type of hacksaw that is powered either by its
own electric motor or connected to a stationary engine. It is used to cut materials such as bone or
metal. Most power hacksaws are stationary machines but some portable models do exist; the
latter (with frames) have been displaced to some extent by reciprocating saws such as the Sawzall,
which accept blades with hacksaw teeth.
Stationary models usually have a mechanism to lift up the saw blade on the return stroke and
some have a coolant pump to prevent the saw blade from overheating.
Power hacksaws are not as commonly used in the metalworking industries as they once
were. Bandsaws and cold saws have mostly displaced them. While stationary electric hacksaws
are not very common, they are still produced. Power hacksaws of the type powered by stationary
engines and line shafts, like other line-shaft-powered machines, are now rare; museums and
antique-tool hobbyists still preserve a few of them.
Depending on the material being cut, the number of teeth per inch on the blade may be varied.
Hacksaws are useful for cutting metal or plastic pipes and any other metal products. Because the
blades are hardened, the hacksaw is very suitable for cutting any type of metal.

Hand drill

Hand Drills are hand-held tools with rotating drill bits used to fabricate holes in multiple
materials. They are widely used in construction, carpentry, metalworking, assembly, and
maintenance.
In the workshop you probably use a hand drill and a ratchet brace as part of practical work. These
are used for drilling a range of sizes of hole and they are very useful especially if machine drills are
not available. The hand drill generally holds drill sizes from 1mm to 9mm whilst the brace will hold
larger drill bits called forstner bits and auger bits. These larger bits can be used to drill blind holes
(holes that do not go the entire way through material).
When using these drills, always hold them so that they are vertical and turn the handles in a
clockwise direction. The common mistake is to turn the handles anticlockwise as this makes it almost
impossible to drill even the smallest holes. Also, put scrap material underneath the material to be
drilled so that the bench is not damaged by the bit as it bursts through the other side.

Most drills used today are powered, and use a chuck to grip the bits of the drills. The drill bit is
gripped by a chuck at one end of the drill and rotated while pressed against the target material. The
tip of the drill bit does the work of cutting into the target material, either slicing off thin shavings,
grinding off small particles, or crushing and removing pieces of a workpiece.

Hatchet
(from the Old French hachete, a diminutive form of hache, 'axe' of Germanic origin) is a singlehanded striking tool with a sharp blade on one side used to cut and split wood, and a hammer head
on the other side. Hatchets may also be used for hewing when making flattened surfaces on logs;
when the hatchet head is optimized for this purpose it is called a broad axe.
A hatchet should not to be confused with a hand axe, which is a small axe meant to be used with one
hand. Technically, a hatchet has a hammer head on the back side. A hand axe, like a normal axe, has
a broad flat area on the back side.
Hatchets have a variety of uses, such as tasks normally done by a pocket knife when one is not
present. The hatchet can also be used to create a fire through sparks and friction. Hatchet throwing is
increasing in popularity.
Hatchets are often described as a small ax that can be utilized with the use of one hand rather than
two. Featuring a handle that is often half the length of the standard ax handle, the hatchet is a handy
tool that can be used for a number of smaller jobs, such as cutting through thick shrubs or small
limbs. Along with use in woodcutting, the hatchet has historically been used for other tasks around the
home, as well as a weapon.
A hatchet is always a good tool to have when you go camping. It can make things a lot simpler. For
instance without a hatchet how are you going to cut wood in order to fuel your fire. Without a fire you
cannot make a hot meal. Not only can a hatchet be used to cut fire wood but it can also be used as
defense against wild animals if you decide to trek through the woods on a longs hike. Lets just face
the facts; hatchets can be a very handy tool for any outdoor extravaganza and especially when
camping.
