Integrity Assurance is defined as the sequence of

tasks carried out on a planned basis to assure the
integrity of subsea assets. The fundamentals include
integrity management, as well as inspection and
maintenance together with the management and
systems that create a seamless process. Subsea 7
can either deliver a full cycle service or alternatively
support clients in discrete service areas.
Key elements include:
Integrity Management Systems (IMS)
Planned inspection, maintenance and
monitoring

Subsea 7 inspection services are an integral part of the

integrity assurance cycle, providing highly experienced
and competent personnel to gather data and report on the
status of client assets. From these activities, anomalies are
detected, reported and managed with confidence on a timely
basis.
Subsea 7 also harnesses hardware and software technology
to gain maximum efficiencies from all deployed inspection
assets.
Improvements in client deliverables are derived from current
information and data management best-practices, with the

Subsea 7, 2010

Planned

Unplanned

The early involvement of intervention engineers is

crucial to ensuring that there is a coherent intervention
strategy throughout a development. This will help to
scope an effective planned maintenance programme
and can allow for a less sophisticated control system.
It also ensures that there are plans developed in
advance for key component change-outs, over-ride
procedures and optimisation of intervention durations.

If the intervention strategy has not been thoroughly

worked through or if the unexpected happens then
unplanned intervention will be required.

Tasks include:

Override or bypass of failed components

Develop field intervention strategies

Sensor installation to monitor problem areas

Prepare task lists, interfaces and tooling

specification
Perform site integration tests

Types of intervention can include:

Restore control of a subsea system
Repair or replacement of worn or damaged
components

Whatever problem has to be resolved it is important

that the response is rapid and effective.

Prepare operational and maintenance procedures

Train operational personnel
Maintain equipment for future operations

Life of Field Services

With further investments in the

development of hot tapping methods
Subsea 7 has become the front runner
in this type of intervention, which is
becoming a quick-fix permanent solution
for many planned and unplanned
interventions.

With exclusive rights to the latest proven

Grouted Tee technology, activities like
bypass repairs, blockage removal,
structural integrity remediation, hold back
clamps and spot repairs are now part of
Subsea 7s core business in Life-of-Field
Services, which has further enhanced the
companys vision of being the Subsea
Partner of Choice.

Planned and unplanned interventions

are now becoming more cost-effective
because of the advances in equipment
and capability offered by the modern
IRM vessels in the Subsea 7 fleet. These
vessels are permanently equipped with
the most up-to-date positioning, survey,
diving and ROV equipment available and
