This chapter introduces the synthesis topic and objectives, describes the study
approach including the survey of transit agencies and case examples, and presents the
organization of the report. Following the introduction, the chapter provides background
information on the taxi industry. This includes a brief primer on the industry that
highlights aspects such as the structure of taxi companies which provide context for
issues raised in this report.
Simple prayer Transport is a taxi company that provide taxi transportation. They
accept regular drivers and part time drivers called extra. They established in year 2012.
They started with a three (3) unit (taxi).
The Primary aim of a computerized record management system should be its
capacity to retrieve information. Introducing information technology will allow the users
to raise the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the records management operation.
A computerized system is a computer system with a purpose. An example
includes this study, a Record management system. Computerized systems are
automated, and calculations are handled by software, eliminating possible errors and
saving time.
This study endeavours to develop a Computerized Record Management System that
can input and monitor the records of Simple Prayer Transport- computing the expenses
and its relationship to the boundaries of every unit (Taxi), Including the Daily Time
Record of the taxi drivers. In this way, manual recording can be excluding within the
company, making an efficient transaction.
Manual Monitoring System in a company was one of the tough parts of a labor.
In a manual monitoring system there were some difficulties encountered- like recording
of the boundaries and inventory manually. It includes the daily time record and
information of the taxi drivers.
Simple Prayer Transport is a public utility taxi company operating 3 to 4 units per
year. It covers around Metro Manila. Now, they operate fifty-two (52) units and a one
hundred eight (108) employees. Basically, the study is only focus on the problems of
their manual monitoring system. They use log books and MS Excel to record the
boundaries and inventory. According to Mr. Aldrin Dela Cruz and Mrs. Glenn Dela Cruz,
Operator of Simple Prayer Transport Company, Manually coding of Boundary, Manually
coding of Inventory and the time-in and time-out was one of their problems especially
when they cannot determine the position of the taxi drivers.
The proposed system Computerized Record Management System of Simple
Prayer Transport was intended to upgrade the companys manual process, to help
them solve problems encountered in terms of manual monitoring, so that it is faster than
the older process.
The system had some features like Record Management System and in addition
to Inventory System; it generates information about the drivers and taxi records.
Specific Objectives
The study is specifically aims:
1.
To develop a system for the company to quickly access the drivers and
taxi records.
2.
3.
To design a system that includes the Daily Time Record of the drivers.
4.
5.
Scope
The coverage of the proposed system includes the following:
Delimitations
1. The proposed system does not include passengers information within the
system.
2. The proposed system does not include online connection or any transaction.
3. The proposed system does not include banking transaction for the salary
distribution of the taxi drivers.
4. The proposed system does not include any government agencies concern,
such as the SSS, GSIS, Philhealth, PAG-IBIG and etc.
The modified Waterfall Model progress flows from the top to the bottom, like a
waterfall. The waterfall development model had its origin in the manufacturing and
construction industries; highly structured physical environments in which after-the-fact
changes were prohibitively costly, if not impossible. Since no formal software
development methodologies existed at the time, this hardware-oriented model was
simply adapted for software development.
The first formal description of the waterfall model was often cited to be an article
published in 1970 by Winston W. Royce (1929 1995), although Royce did not use the
term waterfall in this article. Royce was presenting this model as an example of a
flawed, non-working model (Royce 1970). This was in fact the way the term had
generally been used in writing about software development as a way to criticize used
software practice.
The findings of this study will rebound to the benefit of the Operators, Dispatcher
and Secretary and the important role of technologies today. The greater affection of
knowing their grades justifies the need for more effective style for student academic
growth. Thus, application has recommended an easy way for the Dispatcher to records
the boundary and for the Secretary to input the expenses in every unit. Included the
Operator, who monitors the whole records of the company.
This study also affords the management to know the computerized technology
that helped them to make their transaction easier compare to manual process they
recently use. This study will be a great help to the following:
It will lessen their paper works when it comes to maintaining data that contains all
the records in the inventory as the computer restore the details.
To the Company
The proposed system will help other groups of researchers who wished to
undertake similar studies as they can get more background information from the result
of this study.
To the Proponents
Conducting this study was significant to the proponents because it can add
knowledge in their field as an Information Technology student. It also develops the
communication, writing and grammar skills of the proponents.
And the most importantly the proponents skill of making the proposed study
enable them to research more about programming languages that best suits to the
proposed system, and adds significant knowledge and experience to the proponents
capabilities of making a system.

Definition of Terms
For better clarification and understanding of the terms and related to the study,
the following terms are defined conceptually and operationally.
Daily Time Record (DTR). A sheet for recording the time of arrival and departure of
workers and for recording the amount of time spent on each job.
Dispatcher. A person who oversees the departure of trains, airplanes, busses, etc. as
for the transportation company or railroad
Microsoft Excel. Allows users to organize, format, and calculate data with formulas
using a spreadsheet system broken up by rows and columns.
Unit. An individual thing or person regarded as single and complete but which can also
form an individual component of a larger or more complex whole.
Plate Number. A number that is the serial number of the plate from which a sheet of
postage stamps is printed, and that appears in the four margins of the printed
sheets at least once on each pane.
User. A person who operates and has the right to limited access the system.
