Indiana Alphabet Book

We read together the book H is for Hoosier. Now it is your turn to make your own Indiana
alphabet book! This book will be entirely about Indiana. This book will be part of your Social
Studies grade. We will do some of the work at school; however, you will also need to do some
work at home to complete the book. The completed book is due on Friday, March 3rd (NO
EXCEPTIONS). Late projects will lose 5 points for every day they are late.
In order for your book to be interesting, you must use a variety of information. Make sure
when you are making your final decisions, that you consider using things from these
categories.

Wildlife: Animals that are wild and native to Indiana. Pets are NOT wildlife.
Famous People: People born in or important to our state.
Places: Cities that make Indiana a great state.
Landmarks/Points of Interest: These are places that recognize something about our
states history.
Tourist Attractions: What would visitors like to do? What fun things do you and your
family like to do in Indiana?
Colleges in Indiana
Each page of the book will include a letter of the alphabet, a picture, and a 3-5 sentence
paragraph describing what the letter stands for. A GREAT resource to help you find
information is your Indiana Studies Weekly. As you find the information, please complete the
reference page. This will save you time when completing your book.
I hope you will find this project fun and informational. We will work on this for several days in
class, but you also need to be working on this at home. I suggest keeping everything together
in one folder so it is easy to bring the information back and forth between school and home. If
you have any questions as you work at home, please jot them down in your work folder.

PLEASE SIGN AND RETURN (this sheet will be returned to you)
