SETTLED NN ITI INCORPORATED IN 1807 Village of Ballston Spa Saratoga County Svat 66 FRONT STREET Ballston Spa, NY 12020 January 17, 2017 RE: Community Update ~ Ricketts Dry Cleaning Site Dear Residents, (On December 20, 2016 | received a phone call from the Saratoga County Attorney and written correspondence from him the following day regarding Vapor Intrusion Sampling that had been performed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at the Rickett’s Dry Cleaning Site located at 2017 Route 50 (Doubleday Avenue), This was the first notice that the Village received of any kind of problem at that location. Vapor Intrusion Sampling Trip Report, dated December 6, 2016, was provided which detailed the laboratory results of the sampling conducted by the EPA in August of 2016. Additionally, the letter indicated a meeting would be held on January 10, 2017 which would provide additional information. | immediately transmitted the report to the village engineer, CHA Consulting, Inc. (CHA) for review ang evaluation by their environmental specialists On Tuesday, January 10, 2017, | attended an informational meeting at the Saratoga County Office Building along with the Deputy Mayor, Village Attorney, and CHA. The meeting was led by the EPA who presented the findings of their sampling effort completed in August of 2016. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), as well as the County Attorney and other County Representatives. ‘The EPA has prepared @ Community Update Fact Sheet which is attached to this letter and provides a brief background on the Ricketts Dry Cleaning Site, a summary of the EPA assessment activities to date, and the future activities planned to evaluate neighboring homes and businesses for potential vapor intrusion issues. This project is being led by the EPA, and while | will be apprised of progress and status of the overall project and efforts, the scheduling. of sampling activities will be handied by the EPA and the results will be confidential in nature and therefore the EPA is ‘the best source for many of the questions you may have.
