Create a title page for your project. Include the title, Shelter
and a definition of it
Create a mind map based on Shelter. Include the names of
all of the artists listed on the exam paper, examples of their
work, ideas for a possible theme (eg, buildings, emotional
shelter, places of safety, homelessness, refuge, shelter from
the elements, structures, protection etc.) Include ideas about
which materials or processes you could use
Choose a specific theme or area to study (use the
resources on the Powerpoint and mind maps to help you
choose)
Begin to take photos based on the theme you have picked
Create artists research pages on an artist
Include the name of the artist. Some relevant facts and
information about them in your own words, include 4 or 5
images by them
Analyse a piece of their work in detail giving your own
opinion of the work
Do a copy of a piece of their work to help you to understand
how they created it, annotate it
Create a piece of work in the style of the artist based on your

Mount them on the page and annotate them. Explain what
the image is of, how and why you took it, why it is relevant
and useful to the project, how you are going to use it in your
work
Fill 3 pages with drawings/paintings/mixed media work
based on the aspect of Shelter that you have chosen
Draw from life as well as your own photos
Use a range of different materials and experiment with
different techniques
Annotate your work, explain why you did it, how you did it, if
it is successful or not and why, how you will develop this
piece further
Create 3 different initial designs for a final piece
Make sure that your work is based on your own
drawings/paintings/photography and includes reference to
the artists that you have researched
Annotate your ideas fully, explaining what the ideas relate
to, how they are influenced by artists and how they link to
the theme Shelter
Create a final design for your work. This is what you will be
making in the controlled test time over the 10 hours
Draw it out in detail, annotate it thoroughly, explaining why this is
the best
idea, how it is relevant to the theme, how it links to the chosen
artists, how
you are going to make it and which materials you are intending to
use
Create a mock-up of your final idea. This should be a
smaller, test version of your final design using the correct
materials. This is so that you can practice using the materials
and techniques and see if your idea works
Annotate this thoroughly, evaluating the success of it and
adding ideas about how it needs to be improved or refined
for the final piece
Make sure that your sketchbook and all preparation
work is fully completed
Prepare for the exam, collect materials and resources
(buy a canvas, stretch paper, gather paints etc)
Controlled Test Make your final piece over the two exam days,
a total of 10 hours
